Durable porous asphalt mixture using recycled wind turbine blade materialsAn innovative and sustainable porous asphalt, made using recycled materials from wind turbine blades, in presented. This mixture allows the reuse of wind energy waste, transforming it into a durable, high-performance road solution that is easy to produce and offers excellent drainage. The material combines natural aggregates with a small percentage of recycled wind turbine blade material, along with modified bitumen and cement, resulting in a resistant, stable, and permeable asphalt. The recycled content includes fibers and other typical blade components, safely and effectively integrated into the mix. The manufacturing process is simple and compatible with conventional asphalt plants, based on dry mixing of the solid materials followed by binder addition. This facilitates industrial implementation, reduces environmental impact, and supports circular economy principles and more sustainable management of wind energy waste.Helen Xu posted this:
Durable QR barcode tag for LPG cylinder trackingWe successfully developed permanent barcode tags for LPG gas cylinders,it will work together with gas cylinder tracking software system. Which use corrosion resistant metal as matrix and integrate barcode information with ceramic glaze. The barcodes are corrosion-resistant and aging-resistant,which corresponds to the long life time and hostile working environment of gas cylinders. The chemical stability,corrosion-resistance,abrasion-resistance and temperature-resistance of glaze are very reliable. So when we integrate barcode information with glaze,we can protect barcode information from aging, corrosion, abrasion and high temperature while using barcodes in hostile working environment. The special barcode labels produced by Xiangkang have competitive prices and are being used by more than 3000 gas filling stations around the country. In the recent ten years,we have sold 70 millions. There is no doubt that the quality and life time of our barcode tags can satisfy the real usage of gas cylinders.

Duty-Cycle Controlled Switched-Capacitor Buck Voltage Regulator for Efficient On-Chip Power ManagementThis technology relates to a voltage regulator architecture that generates a regulated output from an input voltage using a switched-capacitor circuit that periodically produces multiple intermediate voltage levels, followed by a low-pass filter to provide the regulated output. The approach uses phase interleaving to increase effective switching frequency and reduce switching losses. Regulation is achieved by modulating switch resistance via duty cycle control, which in turn controls the average voltage on flying capacitors. A control unit selects the operating region and drives switch configurations via a state-machine-based controller.

Dynamic control of three-dimensional light distributions through wavefront engineering: hardware and software systemEngineering light distributions in a three-dimensional volume to achieve selective illumination profiles is an instrumental task shared by many optical and microscopy techniques. The optimization of the light distribution can lead to significant enhancement of relevant performance figures and ultimately to the extension of the instrument or experimental protocol capabilities1,2,3,4,5. Targeted illumination profiles can be used either to mechanically interact with molecules at nanometer precision, as in an optical tweezer application, or to optically induce a change in the conformational state of molecules. Technology enabling selective control of light distributions has found an ideal match in the field of optogenetics, enabling high resolution light-based control of neuron activity. This technique is rapidly developing, and was awarded as method of the year 2010 by Nature Methods and was named as one of the breakthroughs of the decade by Science Magazine. The precision and power of optogenetic approaches are limited by the degree of spatio-temporal control in the delivery of light. Using wavefront engineering, a very precise light field distribution can be generated in a three-dimensional volume. This enables neuroscientists to selectively target specific sets of neurons in vivo for activation, to explore neural circuits and connectivity. This is a cutting edge technique, which is only starting to reach the market, and would be a desired add- on module to many microscopes.

Dynamic Visual Acuity (VA) testBackground The global eye testing equipment market was valued at USD $2.64 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach $3.91 billion by 2025, registering a CAGR of 5.0% from 2018 to 2025. Significant increase in the incidence of eye-related disorders across the world has played a major role in driving the growth of eye testing equipment market. Visual acuity (VA) is a measure of the ability of the eye to distinguish shapes and the details of objects at a given distance. VA is influenced by many factors including the eye itself and environmental influences. The eye media (primarily the cornea and lens) are responsible focusing light on the retina and modulating VA. Any interruption of this optical pathway can lead to reduced VA. For instance, if the media do not focus the incoming light on the retina, but instead focus it in front of the retina (short-sightedness), or behind it (long-sightedness), or if one focus point on the retina is not attained (astigmatism) VA will be reduced and shapes and details will appear blurry. In addition, damage to the eye media, the retina or the optic nerve can also lead to reduced VA.Mitsu Yamamoto posted this:

Early Detection and Treatment of Myeloid Leukemiamalignancies such as AML and MDS are usually aggressive and have a low overall survival rate. Recent studies demonstrated that specific mutations in hematopoietic stem cells occur years before the disease is diagnosed in individuals at high risk of developing myeloid malignancies. Therefore, there is a need to prevent disease development in those individuals. The group of Prof. Liran Shlush found that inhibition of a specific error-prone DNA repair mechanism (MMEJ) could reduce the likelihood to develop future myeloid malignancies in high-risk individuals.CSIC - Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas posted this:

Early warning system for detecting deterioration in post intensive care patientsIn the UK 28% of deaths in patients treated on an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) occur after the patients return to the general ward. These patients often suffer late developing complications after initial successful treatment in the ICU. There is usually a period of deterioration when a patient shows some signs of developing a complication. PICRAM (Post Intensive Care Risk Adjusted Monitoring) is a system that watches over the electronic records of the vital signs of patients after discharge from an ICU. It analyses the information to estimate the likelihood that a patient will suffer a complication in the next 24-48 hours. Patients most at risk of complications can then be identified and specialist nurses sent to start treatment early to the patients who need them most. The early detection of deterioration provided by PICRAM can save lives and reduce treatment costs.University of Waterloo posted this:
EasyPlan project management systemBackground Managing construction projects within strict deadlines and limited budgets is a huge challenge and many projects experience cost overruns and delays. For contractors to compete nationally and internationally in the multi-billion dollar construction industry, they need tools to efficiently manage project resources, increase productivity, meet constraints, and bring projects to profitability.
