Deep reinforcement learning for heat exchanger shape optimizationoundary conditions are extremely important for simulating/optimizing fluid flow and heat transfer in heat exchanger designs. Improving performance of heat exchangers requires greater freedom in the design process, which is computationally demanding and imposes manufacturing challenges. Conventional optimization methods, that keep the heat exchanger boundaries distinguishable, are based on pixel or voxel optimization which require high CPU time due to the complexity of multidimensionality. Additionally, as the conventional methods/software packages start from limited pre-defined heat sink fin geometries, the final design/output may face manufacturing challenges and/or optimality issues (i.e. may be a local optimum but not an absolute optimum).

Degradation and inactivation of antibiotics in water by immobilized enzymes onto functionalized supportsOur technology is intended to degrade and inactivate xenobiotics such as antibiotics in aqueous media using grafted enzymes. We are able to graft at least one enzyme onto a solid support in order to stabilise it and enhance its longevity. Excellent degradation rates have been obtained on antibiotics using New-Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1, laccases extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus and β-lactamases extracted from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The enzymes were grafted on floating Polyethylene carriers that can be put into action in and moving bed reactors.

DETECTING NUDITY IN DIGITAL IMAGESThe present invention provides a process for detecting nudity in digital images, applied to the filtration of digital images with pornographic content in the Internet and digital images with pornographic content in standard computer equipments. This process applies techniques of the digital image processing such as pixel segmentation, recognition and selection of regions, as well as operations in the regions found within digital images with the purpose of detecting nudity. The segmentation under the colour HSV model is used for locating and separating the pixels corresponding to human skin, as well as the algorithm RSOR for recognising and separating the region with the highest number of skin pixels within the segmented image (highest region) and evaluating the digital images.

One of its research areas is the analysis of biomedical. The algorithm obtained allows detecting in an early stage the appearance of allergic reactions during the exposure or provocation test are made in a hospital. This system is based on the measurement of the heart rate variability. With this methodology the time of exposure to the tests is reduced therefore the stress for the patient decreases.
