DAINtech - a platform technology for formulations without polymersDAINtech offers a new route to create stable formulations and composites without using polymers in solution thus offering an opportunity for manufacturing companies to avoid using unsustainable, synthetic polymers in solution. DAINtech stands for Dispersions Arrested in Nematic technology. Nematic lyotropic liquid crystalline phases occur when anisotropic (rod-shaped or disc-shaped) colloids or molecules are in solution, for example cellulose nanocrystals or anisotropic micelles (formed with surfactant mixtures). Correct design of the interaction between colloids and the nematic phase creates suspensions with excellent stability, shear-thinning characteristics and even coating performance.

It is useful for the connection of a distributed generation system to a bipolar DC grid. For these applications, the proposed topology is a solution with sufficient guarantees of reliability, quality and performance. The converter circuit is very simple, it includes three inductors, four capacitors, two diodes and a power switch as a switching device.

Deep reinforcement learning for heat exchanger shape optimizationoundary conditions are extremely important for simulating/optimizing fluid flow and heat transfer in heat exchanger designs. Improving performance of heat exchangers requires greater freedom in the design process, which is computationally demanding and imposes manufacturing challenges. Conventional optimization methods, that keep the heat exchanger boundaries distinguishable, are based on pixel or voxel optimization which require high CPU time due to the complexity of multidimensionality. Additionally, as the conventional methods/software packages start from limited pre-defined heat sink fin geometries, the final design/output may face manufacturing challenges and/or optimality issues (i.e. may be a local optimum but not an absolute optimum).

Degradation and inactivation of antibiotics in water by immobilized enzymes onto functionalized supportsOur technology is intended to degrade and inactivate xenobiotics such as antibiotics in aqueous media using grafted enzymes. We are able to graft at least one enzyme onto a solid support in order to stabilise it and enhance its longevity. Excellent degradation rates have been obtained on antibiotics using New-Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1, laccases extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus and β-lactamases extracted from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The enzymes were grafted on floating Polyethylene carriers that can be put into action in and moving bed reactors.

The solution proposed in this tech offer is a screw retained dental prosthesis system specifically developed for these areas, when it is possible to place, at least, two short or extra-short dental implants. The increased crown height space in such clinical cases is related to bone stress compatible with marginal bone loss. Detecting Necroptosis Activation via Exosome AnalysisNumerous medical conditions are related to inflammation, such as pancreatitis, psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease, atherosclerosis, neurodegeneration, and more. However, determination of inflammation in the body, especially at early stages of a pathology is difficult to assess. Therefore, there is a great clinical need for diagnostic tools to gauge inflammation. The team of Prof. David Wallach have discovered novel biomarkers in exosomes related to necroptosis, a form of programmed cell death that induces inflammation. Using these biomarkers inexosomes different diagnostic tests can be developed for an array of inflammatory conditions.
