Seeking partners to support the development and/or manufacture of bio-sourced oils, lubricants and fuelsWe are working with an established manufacturer of high performance industrial lubricants, greases and fuels interested in developing their bio-sustainable offerings. Mounting environmental and sustainability concerns has shifted significance towards non-technical criteria for the evaluation of lubricants, and there is growing demand for more sustainable options. Early offerings were biodegradable and non-toxic but often derived from petrochemicals. Newer bio-sourced lubricants are made from plant oils or biomass feedstocks. Depending on the base stock used, chemical and oxidative stability and corrosion resistance of bio-sourced lubricants can be an issue, but improvements can be made through chemical modification of the oil, or through the use of additive packages. Therefore, to support development of bio-sourced lubricants, there is also a requirement for additives compatible with bio-based base stocks that are themselves environmentally friendly.CABIER INSTITUTE, SL posted this Technology Call

Seeking pathways to produce C3/C4 saturated hydrocarbons (LPG) from sustainable feedstocks with high yieldsSHV Energy is looking for pathways that can produce saturated C3/C4 hydrocarbons (LPG - propane and/or butane/iso-butane) from sustainable feedstocks with yields that could ultimately be scaled to make production commercially viable. The saturated C3/C4 hydrocarbon may be a co-product with other similarly valuable components. Traditionally, petrochemical processes are designed to minimise saturated C3/C4 hydrocarbons, hence this challenge. Sustainable feedstocks are generally described as containing bio-derived carbon (eg biomass, vegetable oils), though could also include fossil carbon contained in wastes (eg industrial flue gases, municipal solid waste or non-recyclable plastics).SHV Energy posted this Technology Call

The desired solution should be an alternative material outside the PFAS family and offer a scalable process for depositing the material on the metallic cutting edge. The coating must exhibit excellent adhesion to the metallic cutting edge substrate, be ultrathin (preferably below 100 nm), durable for repeated, long-term use in wet/soapy environments, safe for skin contact, and avoid the use of fluorochemistry or corrosive materials.Sameer Talsania posted this Technology Call
Seeking Powder Sterilization TechnologiesWe are seeking efficient and effective technologies to sterilize powdered seasonings without impacting performance characteristics. The powdered seasonings provided to PepsiCo are often comprised of onion or garlic powder. The complete seasoning, or its component ingredients, have the potential for the presence of undesirable microbial contamination. Treatment of these powders by way of irradiation can be effective, however, this technique is not permitted without proper labeling in certain global regions. Given the large surface area of the powders in question, other methods of microbial eradication have typically been ineffective. We would like to identify potential technologies to remove microbial contamination without negatively impacting the physical attributes or flavor profile of the seasoning.

Seeking Product development and prototypes for Mouth delivery devicesWe are working with an established FMCG company seeking to develop an oral consumer device (in the form of an applicator / dispenser / functional pack) to deliver an active ingredient via the mouth or lips. Oral absorption of active ingredients offers advantages in terms of convenience, cost-effectiveness and rapid uptake. Enzymatic degradation of the active in the gastro-intestinal tract is also avoided. To ensure sufficient delivery of the active via the buccal mucosa, the formulation will be in the format of a viscous liquid, semi-solid (e.g. cream, gel or paste) or soft-solid (e.g. balm) to enable it to persist in the mouth long enough for absorption to occur and/or enable slow release of the active. Therefore, the device must be capable of delivering at least one of these formats. The Procter & Gamble Company posted this Technology Call

Seeking proposals to bring stakeholders onto a single platform to offer sponsored resources and incentivise their communities for a better match of skills-based volunteeringCOVID-19 is a pandemic that has just exposed the weakest points in every country, including Singapore. Beyond its immediate impact on health outcomes and, tragically, human lives – the coronavirus outbreak is also very likely to have long-lasting economic and social impacts stemming from the direct and indirect effects of illness. Reduced trade and economic activity have left some of the most vulnerable social groups without jobs, incomes while faced with rising costs of everyday essentials as well as medical supplies. Schools have been shut and services have been suspended. While the first few months have been focused on managing the spread of the disease at the cost of the economy and society – it is now time focus be quickly returned to mitigating negative impacts on the most vulnerable in the short and medium-terms. Without immediate intervention to curb this shock, the social costs of this outbreak would be drastic and irreversible. To support the community in co-creating impactful and lasting solutions in these troubled times, IMDA, The National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, Golden Energy and Resources, GlobalSign. In and ABM Media are coming together to bring you the COVID-19 & Beyond – Innovation For Social Good challenge.
