Seeking new process technology to manufacture heterogeneous catalystsWe are seeking novel methods for the industrial manufacturing of heterogeneous catalysts. Typical materials which we manufacture are zeolites, (mixed) metal oxides, and supported (precious) metals and metal oxides (supports typically are based on alumina, steatite, cordierite or calcium aluminate). Specific exemplary materials would be Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 (used for methanol synthesis), FeOx (used as catalyst precursor for ammonia synthesis) or Pd or Ni on alumina carriers (used e.g. for hydrogenation or dehydrogenation). The resulting catalysts are currently used for applications around synthesis gas (e.g. methanol production, steam reforming, ammonia production, water gas shift), petrochemicals (e.g. olefin production, aromatics, styrene, ethylene oxide), specialties (e.g. emission control, off-gas treatment, gas purification, selective oxidation, hydrogenation, fuel upgrading). New methods that are relevant along the production of inorganic solids are of interest, for instance for precipitation, mixing, synthesis, aging, filtration, impregnation, coating, drying, calcining & heat treatment, shaping & forming (i.e. tableting, extrusion and pelletizing). The methods should be transferable to a scale of several hundred tons annually.Strategic Allies Ltd. posted this Technology Call
Seeking new technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for our client's future consumer electronic productsOur client is a leading developer of portable consumer electronic devices, with worldwide demand for its range of desirable, high-quality lifestyle products. Whilst the company has a strong brand with a reputation for innovative and high-performance products, they are continually searching to augment the range with enhanced performance and functionality, benefiting their current customers and appealing to new users. Consumers are increasingly expecting their everyday products to be interactive, personalised and responsive to their ever-changing needs. Current products for everyday use are limited in their capability, and the client therefore wishes to understand, review and implement new technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), into their future consumer electronic products.Strategic Allies Ltd. posted this Technology Call
Seeking Next generation automotive coating technologiesWe are working with a leading Tier 1 supplier of material solutions to the global automotive sector, and they are actively searching for step-change solutions and processes to address the rapidly changing marketplace for people transportation (including domestic cars, shared autonomous electric vehicles and municipal vehicles). The growing move to autonomous vehicles and future reliance on electric power offers both opportunities and challenges. Existing solutions use coatings to protect and decorate the vehicle, but the processes employed are costly in terms of time, labour and capital equipment, resulting in a significant cost for the manufacturer. Now OEMs are demanding quicker and more cost-effective solutions for vehicles that utilise a broader range of materials and are designed to be replaced more regularly, in some cases negating the need for decades of service. Whilst the emergence of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) necessitates cost efficiency for providers and therefore from the manufacturers, it also provides a new market for increased functionality of the car - as an informational, entertaining and socially responsible mode of transport.Strategic Allies Ltd. posted this Technology Call
Seeking Next generation Consumable identification & recognition technologiesOur client is an established electronic device manufacturer serving the consumer market who wishes to provide intuitive and integrated consumable recognition capabilities for their products. Established brands in the pharmaceutical, consumer goods and luxury product markets are continually seeking ways to protect their products from counterfeits and in some cases, potentially damaging imitations of their products which if used, could be harmful to consumers. Additionally, with the increase in smart devices (including those with multiple consumable options), there is also a growing need for a device to ‘recognise’ the consumable (e.g. cartridge) and thereby allow specific settings to be used, without the need for input by the user.Strategic Allies Ltd. posted this Technology Call

Seeking next generation pallet boardsPepsiCo seeks innovative suppliers for pallet boards suitable for use in its production and warehousing efforts. PepsiCo currently uses pallet boards made of Oriented Strand Boards (OSB) when warehousing products and goods in its facilities. Many of these pallets are currently made of 7/8” thick 9-11 ply fir or hardwood CC grade veneer core plywood and, while widely used in multiple PepsiCo production facilities, are susceptible to damage from other equipment including chains, brackets and forklifts (see images attached for examples of damaged pallet boards). At present, a single pallet board has an average functional life span of 3-6 months. To improve operations and reduce waste from damaged pallet boards, PepsiCo is interested in a composite pallet board. While the board can still be OSB, composite boards with other materials (such as plastics or aluminum, could be added for increased strength and resiliency) are of primary interest as long as there is no negative impact on recyclability. While PepsiCo is primarily interested in pallet board technologies that are commercially available, earlier stage technologies are of interest, provided viable development pathways exist.Covid-19 Innovation Challenges by Innoget posted this Technology Call
Seeking novel ideas to strengthen inclusion and empower the "Invisible Billion"The COVID-19 pandemic highlights how countries with platforms (such as digital ID systems, digital payment systems, and integrated social protection information ecosystems) are able to quickly scale up existing or introduce new social protection programs. In particular, countries with such assets have been able to efficiently make emergency cash transfers to vulnerable groups—such as women and girls, the poor, informal workers, migrant workers, people living in remote areas, and refugees. The Mission Billion Challenge seeks solutions to how countries can increase their efforts to further support these groups—who often lack smartphones, computers and broadband internet access—so they can access services and cash transfers with minimal health risks.Organization from Spain posted this Technology Call

Seeking novel materials and technologies to deliver new and improved sound attenuation to industrial heat rejection equipmentBaltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) seeks to identify materials and technologies that can deliver sound attenuation to their industrial heat rejection equipment. Primary focus is to attenuate/cancel noise from three main characteristics of this equipment: water movement (e.g. spraying, splashing…), air movement, and rotating mechanical components (e.g. fan, motor, belts, bearings…). These materials/technologies could greatly enhance the adoption of our products, especially in densely populated area where sound level restrictions hinder the deployment of BAC’s highly energy and water efficient heat rejection solutions.Innoget posted this Technology Call

Seeking Novel Protein Solutions for BeveragesThe food and beverage market currently has significant growing demand for protein rich or protein enriched products. The trend is clearly demonstrated in the recent success of Greek style yogurt and the growing demand for plant-based food and beverages. The challenge with protein additions at the levels at which claims can be made is that the protein adversely impacts the texture/mouthfeel, taste and/or color, of the product. Therefore, consumer perceptions of the product suffer. The goal is to locate novel proteins that do not suffer from these drawbacks and/or unique extraction methods to mitigate/minimize their magnitude and to achieve a claimable level of protein relevant to each category.PepsiCo posted this Technology Call

Seeking novel technologies for multiphase gas separation to enhance waste heat recovery during dehydration processesDehydration is routinely employed as a cooking process by the food and beverage industry. It uses significant amounts of energy and results in substantial lost heat to the atmosphere in the form of vapor clouds. The presence of atmospheric air, up to 30% by mass, in the air-steam reduces the possibility of waste heat recovery. As a non-condensing gas, it remains in a thin insulating layer at the condensate surface; this layer increases the partial pressure of the air and considerably reduces the heat transfer efficiency between the waste heat (steam) and any recovery medium. Separating the air from the steam significantly enhances the waste heat recovery opportunity. PepsiCo wishes to improve their waste heat recovery systems by implementing innovative technology to separate the desirable waste steam from the air-steam mixture.
