The method uses a ‘divide and conquer’ algorithm, in which any 3D object is first sliced into a series of 2D images in X, Y and Z directions. A geometric (Voronoi) algorithm is then applied to each planar image in order to extract the 2D centerlines before recombining the information using an intersection technique that is able to reconstruct the centerline of the original 3D object.

These systems are formed basically of a set of robots working in a cooperative way and helped by an artificial vision system and a trajectory scheduler. The systems allow to remove the different elements that form a product in order to its recycling. Automatic device for sutureThis new technology consist on a surgical manipulator device focused in the improvement of surgical interventions with anastomosis. These interventions consist basically in doing a cross-cutting of a tubular tissue (usually the intestine) removing a piece of it and uniting again the resulting ends. The device unites the two extremes of the intestine by means of a sewing with absorbable yarn, doing it fast, automatically and in a robust way, under supervision of the surgeon. Thus, improving the quality of life of the patient and reducing the risks associated to the surgery intervention. On the other hand, the device handling is very similar to the existing stapling devices commonly used, therefore diminishing the training of the surgeons.

Automatic feature descriptor in agriculture images using neural networksSoftware that recognizes user-defined objects in aerial images for agriculture and derives quantitative estimators for plant count (N), green area index (GAI), growth stage (GS), deficient leaf area fraction (DLAF), and weeds area fraction (WAF), and potentially further measures. It employs a pre-trained multi-layer neural network model to classify regions of an image. The network is trained based on good examples of distinct types of objects that are provided by experts in aerial photography for agriculture.
