Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPC posted this:Novel conic cannula for spine cement injectionNovel conic cannula for homogeneous injection of bone cements in the spine have been patented and developed. The new design is especially indicated for the injection of ceramic-based bone cements because the pressure drop developed along the cannula minimizes bone cement’s press filtering. Partners to further develop the technology and/or to establish commercial agreements along with technical cooperation are sought.

It is associated with a tendency to reduce environmental consumer waste. Specialized wound dressings are now one of the most profitable medical devices. Their variety of assortment and implementation of more niche application solutions demonstrate the ability of their wider application. It is assumed, that annual sales of specialized dressings on the markets in 2010-2015 will increase by about 4%.

In this method, the following reducing agents are used apiproduct or extract of amber. The obtained nanoparticles can be applied in various industries, but the largest future is in the medical area, and as ingredient in cosmetic compositions due to the presence of non-toxic ingredients.

The most important properties of tin ions are: reduction of plaque, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect, combating odour and reduction of tooth sensitivity. Polyphosphates added to the composition prevent the formation of tartar and discoloration of teeth surface. These compounds are essential so that tin ions are stabilized. Silver, gold or copper nanoparticles are also the innovation. Theese metals present in the nanaocrystalline form are characterized by unique biocidal properties, which is especially desirable in the case of oral hygienization.

Biomedicine and Biotechnology Center - Leipzig University posted this:Peptide for Titanium and Biomaterial Surface Coating for Enhanced OsseointegrationOur research involves the modification of a recently patented molecule that contains L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) and other bonding peptides to increase osseointegration on metal surfaces, particularly titanium. Lab results show that when coated with this molecule, titanium surfaces showed increased signs of bio-compatibility, which is backed up by published scientific research. The technology has the potential of improving osteosynthesis and orthopedic implants, as well as many other types of surgical implants. The BBZ is looking for licensing, joint R&D, or ownership opportunities regarding this technology.
