Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:CATCHAPs/HIPS to test and improve the securityA research group from the Computer Engineering Department of the University of Alcalá proposes a security analysis expertise to those individuals and companies that are developing their own CAPTCHA/HIP proposals or want to test the security of their current proposals. The group can also work towards the improvement of the security of current CAPTCHA/HIP proposals whenever that target is attainable. Moreover, the group has a few CAPTCHA proposals that could be implemented at a grand scale level. These proposals though, need to undergo a security analysis previous to being put into production. It could be possible to share part of the IP with the companies wanting to implement these proposals if they assist the group economically in their initial implementation and security analysis. The group is seeking for individual clients and companies to achieve collaboration and commercial agreements with technical assistance.

The main advantages of this technology are photostability, miscibility, processable in thin layers and effective for laser generation at different wavelengths. It can be used in the following industrial sectors: Spectroscopy, biosensors, chemical sensors and optical communications. The research group is looking for companies interested in acquiring this invention or adapting it to their requirements.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Machine-to-Cloud Management System of Distributed Heterogeneous DevicesThe Specialized Processors Architecture Laboratory (SPA-Lab group) research group from University of Alicante has developed a system which improves remote control systems processes of different kind of devices geographically spread, through the Cloud. This suggested system provides independence between application layer and remote-controlled devices. Its main advantage is the homogeneity of mechanisms and functions for their interaction with the devices no matter their nature and the scope of the application. The supplied technology may be used in sectors needing monitoring and controlling a wide range of devices. The research team supplies the companies both the “know-how” for the necessary adaptation and implementation of the system and the possibility of licensing this technology.
DIT Hothouse posted this:Pressure Sensitive HologramsThey are currently widely used on credit cards, cheques and high value items. However, because mass production of holograms is traditionally from a single ‘master hologram’ all security holograms for a particular product range are identical and any serialization is non holographic (e.g. printed serial numbers over the hologram surface in regular black ink). This technology addresses the gap in the market for individualized holograms which each contain a unique number or code that can checked easily by the end user. The end user simply checks the number against the serial number on the product and verifies that (1) the security hologram is present and (2) it is genuine. The product is a stand alone printed text or pattern which has the appearance of a transmission hologram (typically rainbow effect, but microtext within the printed text could be also incorporated if higher complexity is required). The unique characteristic of the product is that due to the holographic digital printing technique each product can be individualised at no additional price compared to similar hologram products.

Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Acoustic propagation model and location systems for underwater environmentsGEINTRA, a research group from the Department of Electronics of the University of Alcalá, provides a model for studying the acoustic propagation in underwater environments. This model is useful for communications and positioning systems. The proposed model provides the channel response for the usual environmental phenomena. The model simulate how these phenomena affect a particular acoustic signal, and therefore, the performance of an underwater system based on acoustic signals can be evaluated previously to its deployment. The model has been tested for the case of underwater localization systems. GEINTRA is looking for companies working in telecommunications and IT sectors or performing works related to exact science and physics to achieve technical cooperation agreements.

The group seeks companies in communications, computer and electronic sector to reach licensing agreements, collaboration and commercial agreements with technical assistance.

Universitat de València posted this:Micromechanical dry exfoliation deviceThe main advantages provided by the invention are: Versatility: the method is applicable to any layered material and on any type of substrate. Simplicity: the method consists in a dry exfoliation without adhesive materials. Quality and reproducibility: the exfoliation is clean (no trace of adhesive), reproducible and it does not produce defects in the substrate. Efficiency: it is possible to deposit a high density of atomically thin layers of the material. Control: it is possible to control the pressure exerted, allowing for a fine-tuning of the deposition conditions depending on the nature of the layered material manipulated.

Low cost: obtained by a chemical process of a single stage, with a single precursor, at low temperature, and highly available, non-polluting and low cost materials. Good cyclability: testing in cyclability is promising in terms of electrochemical and mechanical stability. In parallel to its advantages as supercapacitors, the nanocomposites show the advantages associated with the following additional properties: Giant magnetoresistance, GMR: this property is observed at room temperature, and high magnetic fields are not needed. Source of carbon nanoforms: based on the nanocomposite, can be obtained a mixture of carbon nanoforms consisting of nano-onions and multi-walled nanotubes.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Wastewater treatment by electrocoagulation (EC)The Department of Physical Chemistry (Applied Electrochemical Group LEQA) at the University of Alicante has a high experience and know-how to develop and carry out the removal of pollutants in wastewaters by electrocoagulation (EC). A pilot plant fully equipped with the necessary infrastructure and with ability to treat 100L/h of wastes is available in order to develop the pre-industrial phase and scaling-up of these processes. This technology could be of interest to several industries: chemical, tannery, textile, etc. Innovative aspects of the tecnology: - The EC cell is controlled electrically and have no moving parts, thus requires less maintenance - The EC process avoids uses of chemicals and so there is no problem of neutralizing excess chemicals. - EC produces effluent with less total dissolved solids (TDS) content as compared with chemical treatments.
