The invention aims to increase the throughput of current cellular communication systems. The advantages of this technology in relation to existing solutions are: 1) the throughput is enhanced and proportional to the square root of the number of transmitter/receiver pairs. 2) the interference is canceled using only outdated channel gain information and the interference removal procedure is distributed. Based on artificial vision, this system measures the remaining thickness of the graphite layers of the collector strips. Automatic processing of collected data generates a 3D model of the strips, analyzing it to detect cracks and wear, which is crucial for pantograph maintenance.
University of Vigo posted this:Suppression of Impulsive Noise for Power Line CommunicationsPower Line Communications (PLC) is an emerging field that enables to carry data on a conductor that is also used simultaneously for AC electric power transmission or electric power distribution to consumers. The widespread use of these technologies is however, compromised by the presence of impulsive noise that arises from interferences generated by devices connected to the power line. Therefore removal of impulsive noise is critical to get a high performance of PLC systems. UVIGO researchers have developed a novel methodology to mitigate impulsive noise by monitoring those carriers of the radiofrequency spectrum that are free of transmission in PLC systems. The identification of the noise signals allows its selective removal keeping the quality of the overall PLC signal.

Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Signal demodulating devices through a Wavelet OFDM receiver (for broadband signal reception)A research group of the Department of Signal Theory and Telecommunications of the Universidad de Alcalá has developed demodulation procedures for broadband signal reception. The proposed approach implements a Wavelet OFDM receiver, based on modulated filter banks according to the Extended Lapped Transform. This modulation technique has been proposed in data transmission for broadband power line communications (PLC), and presents the following characteristics: a) a greater spectral separation between the subcarriers; b) more noise immunity, including narrow band interference impulsive. A block channel equalization is also incorporated in the frequency domain, which includes a parallel sine-modulated filter bank. This invention can be used in all those techniques with multicarrier modulation based on Wavelet OFDM in the transmitter. The group looks for ICT companies to achieve manufacturing agreements and commercial agreements with technical assistance.

This model is useful for communications and positioning systems. The proposed model provides the channel response for the usual environmental phenomena. The model simulate how these phenomena affect a particular acoustic signal, and therefore, the performance of an underwater system based on acoustic signals can be evaluated previously to its deployment.
