By means of this system it is possible to perform in situ the analysis of materials and structures without previous treatments, solving with that the need to use coupling liquids that the current ultrasonic based systems currently use. The group seeks to reach licensing agreements, collaboration agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance, with companies from the agrofood, pharmacy, construction, ceramics, wood, cork and other materials sectors.

Northeastern University's Center for Research Innovation posted this:Rapid Gas-Phase Isotopic Labeling for Enhanced Detection of Protein ConformationsSeveral prior-art techniques such as ion mobility spectrometry and gas-phase HDX measurements have been used for assessing the conformational properties of gaseous protein ions. Most of these approaches comprise the use of ion traps or ICR cells where a gas is introduced and the ions are incubated with the gas. However, such approaches are associated with potential limitations such as extended gas-phase labeling time, complex exchange kinetics, and comparatively low gas pressure. This novel approach enables a rapid gas-phase isotopic labeling of protein ions for enhanced detection of protein conformations.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Natural hybrids nanopigments synthesis for multiple industrial applications.The Colour and Vision Research Group of the University of Alicante has been designed a new process to develop nano-structured hybrid nanopigments (from synthetic or natural dyes). These nanopigments confer improved optical, thermal, and mechanical properties when they were applied on composite materials. The nanoclays, dyes, and additives have been selected depending on the composite matrix source. Also, it has been selected the additives order in the process of synthesis, based on the material properties that would be going to improve. The parameters that could be control with this new system are: the adsorbed dye concentration, the degradation temperature of the reinforced dye, the degradation temperature of the final nanocomposite, the bending resistant modulus, and the UV-VIS colour fastness. Also, it can be controlled the optical properties as transparency and colouring power degree. It is looking for companies interested in commercial exploitation of these new colored nanomaterials.

The process is carried out in the absence or presence of some solvent, during the process of the current invention, temperature may be or may be not used as catalyst, in the process of the current invention the reaction may be or may not be catalyzed by the presence of a catalyst (acid or base), the resultant products can be produced and separated in an easy way, in the process of the current invention starting from pyridinic alcohols the resultant ethenediols can be produced by a single step reaction. The pyridinemethanol derivatives used as starting compounds, do not oxidize as easily and their handling is easier than that of other compounds. The products produced with etheneidol parts can be used as antioxidants due to their capacity to act as free radicals scavengers.

The particles have an irregular shape and variable size for filling columns of different diameter and length. The adsorbent has sufficient hardness for avoiding a particle collapse. The material does not rot, is re-generable and ecological. In the present invention the preparation of the adsorbent, its pre-activation, carbonization and application to eliminate the color of textile wastewater is disclosed.; The color elimination from textile wastewater, as well as decrease of salts, total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC), is carried out passing the textile wastewater through a column filled with the prepared adsorbent. In batch systems metals dissolved in water can be eliminated.

The research are performed to improve the speed of the curing processes of polymer coatings by developing innovative polymerization photoinitiators having a very better parameters than those already used in industry. The search for more effective initiators are fully justified from the practical point of view in industry photocurable polymer coatings.

The proposed ballast is able to carry out dimming control and self-start with no need of auxiliary circuits and with a minimum number of external components.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Acid-base electrochemical flow battery (ABEFB)The research group of Applied Electrochemistry and Electrocatalysis of the University of Alicante has developed an electric energy storage system. This system uses neutralization acid-base free energy for discharge process (use as battery), while charge process is performed by inverting previous reactions. The electrodic reactions are hydrogen evolution and oxidation reactions so no net hydrogen consumption exists. The research group is looking for companies interested in licensing the technology, developing R & D projects to optimize this initial idea and/or to adapt this development to their needs for a future commercial exploitation of the patent.

A two-step curing process, which consists in an Aza-Michael addition at room temperature, followed by UV radical polymerization of acrylates or methacrylates amine formulations without the need of adding solvents. The presence of amines in the structure suppress the radical inhibition by oxygen, which is a typical drawback in radical polymerizations. The invention allows leading the curing in two separate stages with a stable intermediate material, being the process controlled by the amount of amine in the formulation.
