UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:System for a customized and natural rehabilitation and interaction of disabled peopleResearchers at Institute for Computing Research of the University of Alicante have developed a multisensor system for rehabilitation and interaction of people with motor and cognitive disabilities. The system enables to perform different therapies using multiple modes of interaction (pose and gestures of the body and hands, voice, touch and gaze position) depending on the type and degree of disability. Through a training process, the system can be customized enabling the definition of patients’ own gestures for each sensor. The system is integrated with a range of applications for rehabilitation through virtual reality applications and 3D interfaces. Examples of these applications could be the realization of puzzles, mazes and writing with predictive text. The system also provides a flexible and modular framework for the development of new applications oriented to new therapies. Entities and companies interested in commercial agreement, technical assistance or technical cooperation or a combination of some of these services are sought.

The group can also work towards the improvement of the security of current CAPTCHA/HIP proposals whenever that target is attainable. Moreover, the group has a few CAPTCHA proposals that could be implemented at a grand scale level. These proposals though, need to undergo a security analysis previous to being put into production. It could be possible to share part of the IP with the companies wanting to implement these proposals if they assist the group economically in their initial implementation and security analysis. The group is seeking for individual clients and companies to achieve collaboration and commercial agreements with technical assistance.

UNIVERSIDAD DE BURGOS posted this:Orientation of fibers within composites: improvement of material properties and manufacturing processIt is well known that there are correlations between fiber orientation and mechanical and/or physical properties of the composite. Knowing the real orientation of the fibers within a composite material can help to optimize the design and manufacturing process. A composite material contains materials of different densities (fibrous material and matrix), and these have different X-rays absorption capacity, generating different grey levels in scanned images. This allows later identification and separation by the computed tomography scan (CT-scan), a non-destructive technique that provides scanned images with the orientations of fibrous or filamentary components contained inside a composite material, and therefore its mechanical and/or physical properties. However the interpretation of these images depends on the criterium of the technicians, being a subjective opinion. This subjective interpretation can be solved by our computer implemented method that allows a numeric objective valoration of the orientations of fibres or filaments inside the composite. The final result is a more efficient use of the fiber, and therefore an optimal design, from both structural and economical points of views.

The advantages of this process are the total automation, and it distinguishes itself from other solutions proposed until now for providing a closed construction, airtight, with total habitability, safe against cosmic radiation with other devices, and the possibility of holding distinctive functions. He University is looking for partners that may be interested in financing the development of this tool.

With this system a vehicle can switch between different flight plans or define in real time the optimum aircraft movement depending on the environment and the information received by its sensors. Moreover, this system also includes a communication mechanism that allows a ground station to define new flight plans while the aircraft is in the air. This system is a significant advance over existing systems, as latter ones require prior planning to take off and have a reduced flexibility when the vehicles are in flight. It is applicable to all types of aircraft using the communication protocol MAVLINK.
