Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Artificial vision system for the semaphoric control of the access to parking and garages, through the monitoring of pedestrians. The research group “Intelligent Vehicles and Traffic Technologies” of the Automation Department of the University of Alcalá has developed a procedure for the semaphoric control of the access roads to parkings and garages by monitoring pedestrians using artificial vision. It is a road safety system that ensures that the exit access of the vehicles from the parking is performed safely for pedestrians, by monitoring the different access points to the parking, using a stereoscopic vision system with infrared lighting. The images provided by the stereoscopic vision system are processed by a computer, obtaining information regarding the presence of pedestrians in the vicinity of the monitored access point. This information is used to act on a traffic light that controls the exit access of vehicles. The group looks for licensing agreements, technical cooperation agreements, manufacturing agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance, with companies from the sector of transport infrastructure and traffic safety.

The group seeks for licensing agreements, technical cooperation agreements, manufacturing agreements and commercial agreements with technical assistance with companies that perform maintenance and commercialization of precision kinemometers and companies that produce intelligent systems of transport.

Additionally, the base bitumen used is in-situ modified during the process and, consequently, both low and high temperature properties result remarkably improved. Finally, waste gypsum and phosphogypsum are preferably used to form the foam
University of Vigo posted this:New wheel slip reset controller for brake systemsThe main motivation for using reset control is the overcoming of fundamental limitations or trade-offs of conventional controllers: with the conventional controllers if we want a fast braking response, the system is fragile and sensitive to uncertainties; and if we want a robust system, this requires slower braking actions. Reset control is a novel technique that achieves more robust and fester braking responses in a way that no other conventional controller is able to produce.

The invention consists of one or two cameras one settled up on the right lateral back and/or another one on the previous part. The system provides automatically an audible or visual alarm to inform the driver that some vehicles are approaching the exit lane. The group seeks automotive companies to achieve license, commercial or collaborative agreements with technical assistance.

UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Cementitious composite with carbon nanofibers that allows monitoring of deformationsThe research group has developed a cement compound that includes carbon nanofibers in cement matrix in order to detect the rate of deformation of the structure when it is subjected to external actions. Thanks to this system can perform reliable measurements in any part of the structure without requiring the use of attached external sensors. Innovative aspects The technology of the University improves the existing technologies due to the use of carbon nanofibers that provide an easier to disperse homogeneously in the cement matrix without additives or additional steps in the manufacturing process. The technology also increases the contact area matrix-nanofiber. This gives to the material more sensitive to the stress of the structure and allows more reliable measurements.
