Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPC posted this:Multilevel Active-Clamped Electrical Energy ConverterA new multilevel conversion technique has been developed to produce efficient, compact, and easily scalable electrical energy converters to be employed in dc-dc, dc-ac, and ac-ac, single- or multiple-phase, conversion applications with unidirectional or bidirectional power flow. Partners to further develop the system and/or to establish commercial agreements along with technical cooperation are sought.
Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPC posted this:NEW SOLUTION TO PREVENT EXCESSIVE WEAR IN GEAR USEFUL FOR WIND TURBINESA new system to prevent the excessive wear in a tooth gear has been developed and patented. The system is specially developed to prevent the wear at the pitch and/or yaw gear tooth systems from the wind turbines but it could be used in others gears applications. Partners to further develop the system and/ or to establish commercial agreements along with technical cooperation are sought.
Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Software system for analysis and heuristic optimization for the design of wind farmsThe “Modern Heuristics of Optimization and Design of Communications Networks” research group, from the University of Alcalá, presents a software environment for the design of wind farms. Focused especially on the use of optimization heuristic algorithms to design the location of wind turbines. The group is looking for companies from the renewable sector to reach cooperation or commercial agreements with technical assistance or joint venture agreements.
DIT Hothouse posted this:Wind Urchin: A 3D Spherical AnemometerThe Wind Urchin is a novel instrument for the simultaneous measurement of wind speed, direction and turbulence. It is effectively a multidirectional anemometer which uses multiple Pitot tubes incorporated into a unique spherical design to provide simultaneous real-time data on all elements of wind and uniquely turbulence.
Technology Transfer Office
CITCEA-UPC posted this:Technology transfer in renewable energies, power electronics, energy control, electrical vehicles...CITCEA-UPC is a technology transfer center which was created in 2001 within the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, BarcelonaTech), and it is specialized in responding to electrical and electronic technological challenges. The aim of the center is to receive these challenges and solve them by creating a functional prototype that will serve the companies to eventually develop a new commercial product or to solve a new technological problem created by the growth and evolution of the society.
Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Analysis and heuristic optimization software system for wind farm design. The utilization of technologies of soft computing has been vaguely applied to the optimization of the design of wind farms, and only with a limited set of parameters. Gheode group has developed a series of algorithms that consider in a much more realistic way the designing of parks, having in addition a great versatility to incorporate improvements or made-to-measure expansions for every client in particular.
Brunel University London posted this:DRooTES: Double Rooted Trailing Edge Serrations for quiet bladesAerofoil blade designs with double rooted serrations that reduce trailing edge noise to the maximum through destructive interference. They can be attached to existing blades so are particularly suitable for retrofitting to larger blades, such as wind turbines. They are however applicable to a wide range of blades moving in air and water, for example turbines, fans, rotary wings and fixed wings. The scale of application ranges from small drones (small blades operating at high speeds) to large wind turbines (large blades operating at slower speeds).
Brunel University London posted this:Actively-Controlled Morphing Wing Adaptive Skin for Enhanced Aircraft Control and PerformanceTo meet the ever increasing demand for more efficient, robust, and cost effective aircraft wing designs, conventional control surface methodologies need to be replaced by “morphing” technologies. Brunel University has developed a viable and realistic active wing/blade twist technology with an adaptive skin for seamless and adjustable changes in wing/blade twist angle. The technology is the ability to maintain a rigid skin with a low drag (smooth surface finish) despite high twist deformation during operation. Moreover, the structure is lightweight, and strong enough to carry aerodynamic loads.
Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Soft Computing techniques applied to wind prediction for generationThe Group of Modern Heuristics of Optimization and Design of Communication Networks of the University of Alcalá offers the use of modern soft computing techniques, widely contrasted, to obtain automated systems that allow wind prediction in wind farms and maximize the benefits associated with the production of this type of energy. The algorithms have already been developed and tested. The group is looking for companies from the renewable energy sector to reach commercial agreements with technical assistance, cooperation agreements or joint venture agreements.
Universidad de Alicante posted this:Wind flow Interface concentrator for VAWTThe researchers of the University have developed a wind flow concentrator incorporated into a Vertical Axe Wind (VAWT), which allows a significant increase in wind speed before being injected to the turbine. The system allows the optimization of the currents with independence of its direction and it is applicable to any type of VAWT. It is suitable for any type of building.
