Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Sensor system for the detection of objects / obstacles in critical points of railway linesThe research group in Electronics Engineering Applied to Intelligent Spaces and Transport (GEINTRA) of the Department of Electronics of the University of Alcalá has developed a sensor device and its corresponding procedure to detect the presence of any type of objects (vehicles, people, animals, etc…) in points of interest of the railway route (level crossings, tunnels, etc.), sending to the train the visual information and corresponding warning signs. The device consists of a set of cameras located in the environment of each point of interest, an infrared lighting system, an image processing module and a wireless communication system with the train. The system contributes to the increase of safety in rail transport, providing the machinists with visual information about the state of the conflicting points and notifying the presence of obstacles. The system is capable of detecting the presence of objects in daylight and nighttime conditions. The group seeks for licensing agreements, technical cooperation agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance, with companies that work in the manufacture of safety equipment for rail transport systems.

University of Huelva posted this:Power supply system controlled from internet for devices connected to a lanNowadays there are devices that allow the control of devices connected to a network from the own network. The classical method to access them from a different network is the redirection of the corresponding TCP or UDP connections to local networks from the border router. The redirection requires a high level of expertise in communications to be performed. Another strategy that is often used is the creation of VPN (virtual private network). This technique allows the control of access but does not allow connections to be discriminated or the management of power supply. The proposed system allows you to control the person and the moment to access as well as the free access. The modification of these constrains can be performed in the course of an access session. In addition, the system allows the control of power supply of the device you want access to. The interface is very friendly and does not require continuous changes in the configuration of the router. The system has a local database access control and validation can be delegated to other servers using protocol validation like LDAP, IMAP, POP3, etc.
Laser Consult Ltd. posted this:Lightning conductor with upgradeable modular structureOur partner a Macedonian company has developed a modularly upgradeable lightning conductor with built-in early streamer emission device. Lightning conductors are designed to increase the efficiency of lightning attraction and to improve the radius of protection 1.5 - 3 times of a conventional lightning rod. The modular structure enables different functions for the product. The company is interested in finding suitable license partner.
University of Huelva posted this:New method for manufacturing powder metallurgy magnetsThe conventional method of press followed by furnace sintering is now substituted by an electrical consolidation method. This allows joining in a single step the previous pressing/sintering processes, and, due to the promptness of the process, the use of controlled atmospheres is not necessary. The steps of magnetization, and eventual thermal treatments, can be carried out in the same container, without being necessary to manipulate the product.

The emitter consists in a plurality of SiC barriers which are highly close and similar and which axes are parallel therebetween, formed by self-alignment with an equidistant separation. The operation of the device at low voltage is useful for obtaining an efficient emission, which results from the quantic mechanical tunneling between the barriers of the electrons injected from the cathode contact.
University of Huelva posted this:Measurement system for the identification and accurate determination of distorting loads in electrical networks and microgridsThe only measurement of distortion level in a network can highlight the need for action to control it. Among those actions is, for example, the use of power filters. However, the determination of the most suitable point where the filter must be connected and its most appropriate configuration requires further analysis of the micro-network (a subset of nodes in the network with different loads connected to each). Therefore, an additional study becomes necessary to establish the responsibility of each load in global distortion levels. In addition, the establishment of the model of the most responsible loads is also necessary in order to decide the filter configuration. In this sense, the load may be voltage distorting or current distorting. All this information is provided by the device of the invention. Indeed, the device, besides distributing the responsibility for overall levels of distortion between each agent, reports whether loads are voltage harmonics or current harmonic sources. This information is the most relevant to determining the power filter settings that best mitigate the distortion in each network node.

The method is very simple and fast, it provides an excellent dispersion of the graphene derivatives in both the solid components of the resin and in the cured polymer matrix, and is entirely friendly with the environment. The novel method does not require the use of organic solvents nor water, ultrasounds, and high pressure/temperature. The resulting resin composites show excellent mechanical properties, good wear resistance, easy manipulation and increase the insolubility in oral fluids, and therefor they have special interest in applications in odontology, traumatology and non-medical applications too (automobile, construction, civil engineering, aeronautics, space engineering, electronics and optics). It is looking for companies interested in acquiring this technology for its commercial exploitation.
