Now there is only PCR test and IgG/IgM test for COVID-19 assessment. One of the most important problems of this diagnostic test is the time needed by the device to detect infected persons. This problem makes big companies in the field of pharmaceutical and medical devices manufacturing to design and develop rapid test kits. Our research team found that there are some specific proteins on the viral membrane which can make some reagents undergo a specific chemical reaction. Every reaction has a specific product related to substrates, so by detection of products with indicator reagents we are able to identify the virus in saliva. Indicator reagents usually change the reaction mixture color so by color change we can approve that the person is infected by COVID-19.

The invention aims simultaneously to overcome some of the technical difficulties in the current state of the art, such as i) little or no response in the selective collection of alveolar air fraction ii) the inability to couple systems that allow concentration/extraction of analytes of interest iii) the inexistence of systems to the storage of the collected biofluid under controlled conditions and iv) the inability to collect exhaled air in liquid or vapor state. The university is looking for companies interested in the industrial production of the equipment and its commercialization.

The current processes are prone to human error and misdiagnosis can be up to 60%. They are also time consuming and costly.Sample user interface for spectral acquisition and classification. Researchers at DIT have invented an easy to use, low cost, automated analyser that uses a pre-defined library of known cell signatures and a proprietary classification algorithm to detect abnormal cells with an accuracy of 99%. The analyser can be used with a regular microscope, an image analyser or as a point-of-care system with results displayed using an intuitive user interface. The image and the classification can be saved in digital format, stored in a national database, and sent to the medical team or experts worldwide

It allows the assessment of both systole (LFR) and diastole of blood vessels (HFR), and also allows to track the kinetics of changes in response to reactive hyperemia. FMSF method allows the detection of vascular endothelial dysfunction at an early stage of the disorder to identify patients for preventive or therapeutic intervention, or to more accurate and more complex diagnostic tests. FMSF method allows to monitor the healing process, to observe the influence of drugs on the vascular condition, or the influence of exercise training on overall health. FMSF method has already acquired intellectual property protection in the EU (decision of the intention to grant a patent - European patent application EP12727444.7); the patent procedure in other largest markets worldwide is ongoing.
