Universidad de Alicante posted this:Novel 3D-polymeric monolithic catalystResearchers from Inorganic Chemistry Department at the University of Alicante have developed a new procedure to obtain heterogeneous monolithic catalysts with polymeric support that allow to accelerate catalytic reactions in an optimal way at moderate temperatures, being especially suitable in Preferential Oxidation of Carbon in Hydrogen Rich Gases (CO-PROX). These novel catalysts have been manufactured by 3D printing with complex geometries, improving the performance of current supports. These heterogeneous catalysts are characterized because they have similar conversion and selectivity profiles to current unsupported powder catalysts. They have increased catalytic activity during prolonged reaction times and greater resistance to friction wear. We are looking for companies interested in acquiring this technology for commercial exploitation.

The developed initiators trigger the curing of resins by irradiation with low-intensity visible light, while providing polymers with good control of chain length. In addition, through decomposition of the initator, the cured material presents a different colour than the uncured resin.

The offered technology consists in a nickel catalyzed process of carboxylation of butadiene. The developed process allows preparing adipic acid from carbon dioxide and 1,3-butadiene through a cost effective and competitive process. Industrial partners are sought for process optimization and/or industrialization.

They are metal complexes belonging to the first transition groups (groups 4-6) and elements from the main groups (groups 1,2 and 13). Its application is aimed at the synthesis of materials with new properties (silicon polymers, biodegradable plastics, polyesters) and the production of small molecules with high added value, used as starting products in many industrial processes (epoxides, silanes). The group is looking for manufacturing agreements and joint venture agreements with companies from the agrofood industry, construction and petrochemicals.
