University of Vigo posted this:Diagnosis and cleaning using laser technology for the restoration of historical monumentsSince ancient times granite has been used in historic buildings. Some restorers used to apply molten beeswax on their granite surfaces to stop imminent deterioration of the monuments. At first, this treatment was a good solution to consolidate the stone, but with time it resulted counterproductive. This method allows removal and cleaning of wax and other contaminants from porous stones in historical monuments and artworks using nondestructive means through laser technology.
DIT Hothouse posted this:Strata Vision: Automated Scanning and Fault Detection for PPEDIT Hothouse is seeking a suitable commercial partner to take this technology to market. The establishment of a start-up software business or a licensing agreement with a clean room services company are two possible routes to market. Industry partners will have the added benefit of a highly experienced DIT project team to help deliver the final product. UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Noble metal-free ceria-based diesel soot combustion catalyst, suitable for gas purification in Diesel engine exhaustsThe developed catalyst does not use Pt, which leads to a cheaper product. The resulting catalyst shows equal or even better performance as Pt catalysts. Following the patented procedure of synthesis, the catalyst produced has a lower particle size. This leads to higher surface per particle and therefore, a better ratio yield when interacting in oxidation reactions, leading to a higher oxygen production rate.
Universidad de Cádiz posted this:Device for easy, quick and nondestructive fouling's evaluation in water treatment systems with membranes in spiral configuration. This device allows a faster diagnosis, more efficient and more economic than the alternative proceeding. Its design allows obtaining reliable and accurate information on the degree of fouling and biofouling that membranes of the unit are developing without sacrificing any of them. Its quick placement and removal allows distribute these devices in the facility to improve the management of the facility. It is possible even operate with difference type of membrane for doing comparative studies of resistance to fouling with a view to introducing future changes of the type of membrane in the desalinization plant
