Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas posted this:Thermochromic mortar coating for a more sustainable construction CSIC has developed a thermochromic mortar coating with optical properties in the solar radiation range that vary according to temperature in a reversible way. The mortar is especially interesting for energy efficiency in buildings. Its solar radiation absorption at low temperatures is high, helping to maintain indoor heating, while its reflectance increases during the summer, reducing over-warming of the envelope. Industrial partners from the construction industry are being sought to collaborate through a patent licence agreement.
Universidad de Alicante posted this:System for fixing armours during concretingThe research group “Materials and Construction Systems for Buildings”, from the Building and Urbanism Department of the University of Alicante, has developed a new and simple system that allows to fix any type of armours in concrete construction elements during the concreting process. This system avoids the movement of the armours in an efficient, technical and reusable way, and, therefore, also avoids future expensive treatments in case of unwanted movements. This new system is characterized by its low cost, light weight, ease of use and versatility for any constructive element. The research group is looking for companies interested in commercial exploitation.

Additionally, the base bitumen used is in-situ modified during the process and, consequently, both low and high temperature properties result remarkably improved. Finally, waste gypsum and phosphogypsum are preferably used to form the foam

This process makes it possible to carry out the management and the energy recovery of this waste, avoiding the environmental problems associated with its landfilling and also making it easier to transport, handle and store. The briquettes obtained, show physicochemical characteristics similar to the conventional and they have a high energy density being able to be used as fuel for thermal power plants or industrial boilers. Companies in the waste treatment sector and the furniture industry that are interested in commercial exploitation of this technology through licensing agreements and / or technical cooperation are sought.

By means of this system it is possible to perform in situ the analysis of materials and structures without previous treatments, solving with that the need to use coupling liquids that the current ultrasonic based systems currently use. The group seeks to reach licensing agreements, collaboration agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance, with companies from the agrofood, pharmacy, construction, ceramics, wood, cork and other materials sectors.

The sheet is folded forming ribs on both sides of the sheet, strengthening the façade and producing suitable modulations for both fixing the outer finishing material and transmitting the loads (own weight and horizontal actions) to the structure of the building by means of fastening elements located in the edge of the floor slab. The group looks for companies in the building sector and manufacturers of facade systems to sign technical cooperation agreements, commercial agreements with technical assistance and patent licensing agreements.

This interesting project gives the University the leading position in the sector of energy efficient building.
University of Vigo posted this:Lateral connection system by removable clamps for I or H profilesThe presented system allows detachable lateral connections, at right angles, type ‘cross beam to column flange’ of I and H standard profiles made of steel. The system uses standard mounting clamps without previous specific machining operations (as may be welding or drilling).
University of Vigo posted this:Removable and reconfigurable system for corner connection of square tube profilesThis removable connection system can be adapted to the size of the section, by adjusting the length of the connecting bolts, using the same flanges. Is usable for a wide range of standard profiles, which avoids the need for a flange size for each profile section.
University of Vigo posted this:Removable system for continuous connection of square tube profilesThe removable system allows mounting on each profile separately, joining then in continuity with plates at the head of each of the flanges. The use of anti-buckling clamps prevents local buckling of the walls of the profiles, associated with tightening of flanges. Flanges have nerves to reduce stresses. The same flanges are valid for connecting different sized sections of square tube profiles.

They are metal complexes belonging to the first transition groups (groups 4-6) and elements from the main groups (groups 1,2 and 13). Its application is aimed at the synthesis of materials with new properties (silicon polymers, biodegradable plastics, polyesters) and the production of small molecules with high added value, used as starting products in many industrial processes (epoxides, silanes). The group is looking for manufacturing agreements and joint venture agreements with companies from the agrofood industry, construction and petrochemicals.

The images are captured with digital, thermal imagers, with the use of drones and robots to enter to areas with difficult access and from them, the processing that facilitates the diagnosis is carried out with a software. This tool is useful for conservation and maintenance companies of buildings, real estate corporations, insurance companies or certification to achieve collaboration and commercial agreements with technical assistance.

This suggested system provides independence between application layer and remote-controlled devices. Its main advantage is the homogeneity of mechanisms and functions for their interaction with the devices no matter their nature and the scope of the application. The supplied technology may be used in sectors needing monitoring and controlling a wide range of devices. The research team supplies the companies both the “know-how” for the necessary adaptation and implementation of the system and the possibility of licensing this technology.
