UATEC - Unidade de Transferência de Tecnologia posted this:Innovative water saving technology, based on recirculation of the same water when it is warming upThe present invention has the following advantages comparing to existing technologies: 1 - It is easy to mount, either in new construction or in existing, because it is a kit and does not involve works of alteration; 2 - It is modular, which allows scaling the technology to all sites or only where the highest consumption occur; 3 - It is reliable because it is based on components with many years of use in hot water systems; 4 - It is automatic, as it connects with the movement of opening a hot water tap on and automatically shuts down ; 5 - it is economic because while consuming electric power, consumption is very low and only for a few seconds; 6 - has a high cost-benefit ratio, it can generate savings that make the return on investment in short times.
Cracow University of Technology posted this:New way of detection Cryptosporidium and Giardia protozoa.Advantages of the technology: - Our method is sensitive, reproducible, species-specific and inexpensive way to detect Cryptosporidium sp. oocysts ad Giardia intestinalis cysts in various environmental samples. - There is not necessary to use highly specialized and expensive equipment. All the materials for realizing the invention (chemical reagents and equipment etc.) are commercially available. - It is not requirement the use of toxic flammable solvents to ensure the safety of personnel conducting the test. - The use of appropriate materials, allowed to simplify and shorten the work, to improve the reproducibility of detection and reduce the cost of detection procedure. - To achieve sensitive detection method allows subjecting the examination of much smaller volumes of liquid samples in comparison with that provided by the USEPA protocols (United States Environmental Protection Agency).

Fundació URV posted this:Catalytic wastewater treatment for organic matter removalThe catalytic technology allows you to remove high concentrations of COD (40.000-200.000ppm) at atmospheric pressure. All kind of organic compunds are removed (biodegradable and non biodegradable ones). The catalyst life is around 2-3 years. It is an exothermic process, so the energy needed for the process is just for the start up. The process works at 250-350ºC.
Universitat de València posted this:Test Kit for anionic surfactant in waterThe most remarkable advantages provided by this technology are: o Simplicity and versatility of the kit, which allows carrying out a high throughput screening or in situ analysis with very short analysis times. o Low analysis cost, since dyes, organic solvents that generate residues and instrumental equipment are not used. o High sensitivity of the method, that detect anionic surfactant concentration lower than the maximum residue limit established in most of the environmental legislation.
Centre Technology Transfer CITTRU posted this:Hybrid photocatalysts based on nanoclays for water purification (environment-friendly method of water purification)Water contamination becomes a problem, which may limit civilization progress. The development of a universal and inexpensive method of water purification is very difficult, because it may contain pollutants of different nature, e.g. heavy metals, organic compounds (pesticides, chlorinated aromatic compounds, antibiotics and surfactants) as well as bacteria. The water purification methods currently in use are based on osmosis, ion-exchange, adsorption, ultrafiltration, distillation and photooxidation. Although multifarious, they have limitations, mainly connected with their high power consumption and low efficiency.

UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Solar energy use for water potabilization by electrodialysisA Spanish research group owns the know-how for the desalination of saline water for human consumption or irrigation by means of systems of electrodialysis powered by photovoltaic solar energy. The main advantages are that it is non-polluting and has a low maintenance cost. The technology is fully developed and useful for organisations dealing with water supply problems. A partner to set up the electrodialysis-photovoltaic system in its facilities and/or carry out feasibility studies is sought. Innovative aspects: The desalination system makes use of renewable energy, so it is respectful with the environment and not contributing to the climatic change. Desalination system for remote areas with access to saline reservoirs, where the supply of electricity is particularly expensive or even non-existent, or for coastal zones where there are saline aquifers and the hydric resources are scarce.
