Zinc Based Anti-Viral Spray: Metal ion medication for prevention and treatment of corona virus. Metal ions have been reported to effectively block RNA polymerase in vitro. Thus, increasing the presence of metal ions in the upper part of the lungs may deactivate viruses which are just reaching the lungs. Moreover, viruses that already penetrated cells, can be treated by accessing the cells with nanoparticles loaded with metal ions.
We propose to develop cationic nanoparticles loaded with metal ions that will be delivered via spray to the lungs. Nanoparticles will also reduce the side effects associated with metal ion delivery.
