Summary of the technology
Russian Laboratory of Academic Novosibirsk University, specializing in the area of electrode materials research, developed a technology of hybrid nanostructures, having high electrical capacity, for supercapacitors creation. Usage of this technology allows to increase the capacity of capacitors up to 400 F/g (calculated using electrode material). Authors are looking for partners for joint research projects and creation of a production prototype.
Description of the technology
Supercapacitors are the devices for the energy storage. Their capacity ranges from tens to hundreds of farads. To achieve this capacity it is necessary to use electrode materials with a large surface area, high conductivity, and chemical stability. Graphene materials and carbon nanotubes have all of these properties. In addition, they can be used as a three-dimensional template for the deposition of electroactive components: electrically conductive polymers or transition metal oxides. The specific capacity of such materials ranges from 200 to 500 F/g. The potential difference is from 1 to 4 V and depends on the electrolyte used in the device. Supercapacitors can be used in the cars, robots, medical equipment, and mobile devices. Current developments allow to create flexible and binder-free electrodes based on graphene materials or nanotubes, and it makes them promising for use in wearable electronic equipment.
