The present invention relates to a cell identification method, based on the use of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) conjugated to antibodies specific for cell surface proteins. These conjugated antibodies bind with the specific proteins of the immobilized cells, which subsequently allows the use of an electrocatalytic method for the detection and quantification of these nanoparticles.
The present invention also includes a method of diagnosis and/or prognosis of a disease involving the expression of cell-surface proteins and the corresponding kits.
The use of an electrocatalytic method that measures the cathodic current generated in the evolution of hydrogen, being the reduction catalyzed by the gold particles, which allows the detection and quantification of these and consequently the cells. This method is fast and sensitive. In addition, this cell identification method reduces the diagnostic and/or prognostic times and can be carried out more quickly and efficiently.

The application of this invention fits on the medical field as allows the identification of cells comprising the gold nanoparticles conjugated with the antibody or combination of antibodies and the diagnosis and/or prognosis of a disease that involves the expression of cell surface proteins
