Summary of the technology
A method of preparing novel and transparent polymer nanocomposites based on a polymeric matrix of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and the inorganic nanoparticles of zinc sulfide doped with manganese atoms (ZnS:Mn).
New and innovative aspects
The present invention relates to a method of preparing novel and transparent polymer nanocomposites based on a polymeric matrix of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and the inorganic nanoparticles of zinc sulfide doped with manganese atoms (ZnS:Mn). Nanocomposites were produced by adding different percentages of nanoparticles from 5 up to 50% by weight in the polymer matrix. From the resulting nanocomposites films on glass were prepared by spin-coating method. In order to obtain a completely transparent and homogeneous nanocomposites were used as-synthesized nanoparticles ZnSe:Mn of small size (less than 20 nm) and modified suitable stabilizers surface. All nanocomposites were characterized by strong orange photoluminescence from dispersed ZnS:Mn nanoparticles and transparency in the visible light range.
Due to the unique properties of produced nanocomposites these thin films can be used in optoelectronics for displays or light emitting diodes.
