Seeking technologies extending the shelf-life of fresh-cut chilled salads

Posted by Patrick from BonduelleResponsive · Ready to Market Technical Innovations and Products · Project Size Range : 250,000 - 1,000,000 € · Deadline at 09/05/2018 · France

Desired outcome

Shelf-life extension: We are seeking any technology that would enable the extension of shelf-life for fresh-cut packaged vegetables sold and stored in chilled conditions. These could be along the chain or on specific parts of the supply chain: novel packaging, new processes, new varieties or raw materials, new protective atmosphere approaches, novel agricultural practices.

Details of the Technology Call

We are seeking for any technology that would enable the extension of shelf-life for fresh-cut packaged vegetables sold and stored in chilled conditions by few days. These could be along the chain or on specific parts of the supply chain: novel packaging, new processes, new varieties or raw materials, new protective atmosphere approaches, novel agricultural practices.

The current limitation for the closed shelf-life (before opening of the packaging) is not linked to microbiology but to "senescence" and deterioration of the sensory properties of the vegetables (smell, colour, integrity of the texture,...)

REQUIREMENTS

Safe, natural and consumer friendly (no impact on label)

Easy to fit in industrial lines (capital required)

Scalability at industrial scale and cost in use (per consumer unit)
