Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Novel Synchronization Process for Multi-carrier or Single-carrier CommunicationsThe research group “Communications, Multirate Systems, and Biomedical Engineering” of the University of Alcala presents a novel synchronization procedure for multicarrier or single carrier systems for narrowband and broadband communications. This procedure allows a precise estimation of the symbol timing offset (STO), and a coarse estimation of carrier frequency offset (CFO). The procedure is based on the inclusion of symmetric extensions in the transmitted symbols for the synchronization, which makes it useful not only for communications systems based on the discrete Fourier transform, but also for transceivers based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT). Among its main applications are communications through single-mode optical fiber, powerline communications, wireless and wireline systems, and in general, all the techniques that use multicarrier and single carrier modulations. The group seeks companies from the telecommunications sector to sign technical cooperation agreements, commercial agreement with technical assistance and patent licensing agreements.

The sheet is folded forming ribs on both sides of the sheet, strengthening the façade and producing suitable modulations for both fixing the outer finishing material and transmitting the loads (own weight and horizontal actions) to the structure of the building by means of fastening elements located in the edge of the floor slab. The group looks for companies in the building sector and manufacturers of facade systems to sign technical cooperation agreements, commercial agreements with technical assistance and patent licensing agreements.

This task, which is complex, time-consuming and prone to errors, is performed manually by one or several human experts. Our technology automatizes the process by automatically detecting terms and term combinations appearing in the documents that may disclose sensitive information. Such terms are then subject to redaction or generalization.

It reduces the risk of amputation in patients. This innovation can also be used to prevent or treat wound and burn infections, not only due to its intrinsic antimicrobial properties, but also due to its ability to deliver extrinsic antimicrobial agents to wounds and burns. Additionally, it can be used as a slow-release drug-delivery vehicle for growth factors to stimulate and improve wound healing. This technology offers a complete regeneration of the ulcer using a single copy of the material without the need for invasive treatment, ensuring no backsliding in the development of ulcers. The purification process triggered by the chitosan and the ensuing chemical modifications in the membranes reduce possible allergic reactions and maximize the benefits, such as its antibacterial effects.

GEINTRA seeks companies from the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector to sign technical cooperation agreements, commercial agreements with technical assistance and patent licensing agreements. * Discrete multi-tone modulation, widening by discrete Fourier transform
Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:Antimicrobial electrospun fiber membrane with retention and controlled release capacity of active substancesResearchers from the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the University of Alcalá in collaboration with researchers from the Department of Chemistry and Physics of the University of Almería, presents a procedure for the manufacture of active membranes based on submicron fibers combining an antimicrobial action with the ability to retain apolar contaminants in aqueous solution. The membranes are produced by an electrospinning process in aqueous solution from mixtures of water soluble polyacids and polyols, which are subsequently stabilized by a thermal curing process and post-functionalized by the incorporation of amino-terminated dendrimers by a grafting process using a coupling agent. The material can be applied to the treatment of drinking water, to the regeneration of waste water, to the treatment of process waters and also to the controlled release of active substances, such as drugs, food preservatives, etc. The group seeks companies from the pharmaceutical, food, material technology and environmental sectors to sign technical cooperation agreements, commercial agreement with technical assistance and patent licensing agreements.

However, these approaches are tedious and unreliable. This novel procedure allows for the use of a sensing system (comprising video and multi-sensor information) for real-time detection of the behavior of a large, dense crowd.
