Procedure for the genetic identification of atlantic european spider crab (maja brachydactyla). A protocol has been developed for the genetic identification of european atlantic spider crab (maja brachydactyla) against the other species found in the mediterranean (m. Squinado, m. Crispata and m. Goltziana). These species constitute a commercial resource of great value; its identification is fundamental to enable its traceability and proper labeling and to guide its management and conservation. The protocol consists of amplifying a 671 bp DNA region of the 16s gene of mitochondrial DNA, whose nucleotide sequence is characteristic of each of the 4 species. In particular, to differentiate m. Brachydactyla, specific primers have been designed to amplify an internal fragment of 223 bp DNA region.
The invention allows the differentiation of the Atlantic spider crab from the Mediterranean spider crab, thanks to the design of specific primers that amplify the 671 bp DNA fragment and the 223 bp DNA fragment.
