It is a computer program meant to improve rehabilitation of patients especially when it involves frequent repetition of exercises. It assists on the design of tracking protocols and on the management of rehabilitation exercises applied to recovery from injuries or shape maintenance.

New and innovative aspects

The program fulfills the following requirements:

  • Track patient’s evolution. Starting from the patient’s current state, a final report comprising the whole rehabilitation process has to be provided.
  • Design exercises adapted to each patient’s condition.
  • Grab patient’s attention using topics that match his or her age.
  • The software has to be friendly enough to allow any person irrespectively to her computing knowledge, the use of the program.

Specifications

Augmented reality involves the use of “markers”. They are barcodes that a webcam can that can be captured and displayed on the screen. The markers allow the webcam to to track patient’s movements in this case. Movements are recorded as a sign of patient’s progress in his therapy.

  • The use of this tool is recommended to hospitals and rehabilitation centers in general.
  • It could also be used by patients at home when they are prescribed long rehabilitation sessions.
  • Improvement in the results of active aging programs.
