REAL-TIME THERMAL CONTROL & DYNAMIC QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Summary of the technology

This technology introduces an end-to-end, real-time closed-loop control system designed to solve heat accumulation and structural defect challenges in welding and additive manufacturing. Developed by researchers at the University of Alberta, it fuses multi-sensor inputs pyrometers, IR imaging, and thermocouples with an AI-driven predictive core. By utilizing adaptive cooling stages with liquid nitrogen, water, or refrigerated gases, it dynamically regulates cooling rates to eliminate defects in situ. This proactive method replaces post-process inspection, maximizing manufacturing throughput and mechanical performance
