Heavily involved in developing Tata Steel's approach to Open Innovation (@TataSteelInnov), www.tatasteelinnovation.com Manager, Coated Products Department, R&D Nov 2000 – Dec 2010 Manager of an International Research Department spread over three sites and two countries. Department consisted of ca. 60 researchers and support staff and developed new coatings, processes and applications on both strip and long products within the Tata Steel Group. The Department also built strong links with its Indian equivalent in Tata Steel India Researcher, R&D Jan 1990 – Nov 2000 Involved in a diverse range of technical areas, including Corrosion of Stainless Steels, Liquid Metal Embrittlement of materials, and coated product development for Long Products (Rails, Plate, Sections, Tubes and Pipes). Also lead multi-national longer term European funded projects in, for example, Off-Site applied Intumescent Coatings. Mike Albu, M.S., is currently Laboratory Manager of instrumentation, wet, and biomedical laboratories at Xperiential Laboratories, a division of Somnio Global, in Novi, MI. Mike obtained his B.S., in Microbiology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, and his M.S. in Macromolecular Chemistry from the University of Detroit-Mercy in Detroit, MI. He worked for twelve years as a medical technologist and clinical microbiologist at various area hospitals and laboratories and worked for twenty-five years at PPG Industries, Troy, MI, as a Laboratory Manager and Research Associate.
