Summary of the technology

A research group at the University of Burgos have patented different materials whose base is the lime and they have improved properties for construction, particularly for the use thereof as coatings used in Artistic Heritage. The feature common to all is that different wastes are used for which the criteria for their use and basic dosages to ensure strength and durability are set as well as a high degree of performance and application.

New and innovative aspects

Lightweight materials with improved properties in relation to conventional mixtures (eg optimizing some of the basic properties such as trajabilidad, permeability and rheological behaviour to force loads) and a good performance of provision

Main advantages of its use

The main advantages are the environmental and economic as well as improvements in product performance. To obtain these materials are recycled and reused materials of various kinds, usually very difficult to degrade by non-mechanical methods, due to their chemical stability.

The results obtained for these patents lead us to affirm that the mortar lime designs present physical and mechanical properties equivalent to those of traditional materials, with enough adherence, suitable water vapor permeability and complying with the regulatory requirements and with durability test.

Specifications

- Lime mortars fabricated with polyamide powder residues.

The invention protects the product and the preparation method according the use, improving some of the basic properties such as workability, absorption and adhesion resistance.

- Lime mortar for construction and rehabilitation manufactured with steel slag waste.

The production of air and hydraulic lime mortars as binder as well as industrial by-products obtained in the manufacture of steel as black and white slag. New material can be used in construction or rehabilitation as an alternative to the standard products.

Applications

Companies in the construction sector. Use of materials for rehabilitation of historical heritage.

Intellectual property status

Protected by Patents P201300847, P201400382.

Current development status

In use, test results available
