We propose a system that predicts bacterial diseases in stone fruit trees and almond trees. The solution developed by SUMACROP integrates the use of defensive elicitor peptides (Pep1 and Pep2) with the XapCAST predictive system, which identifies the optimal timing for treatment application, maximizing its effectiveness and minimizing the number of applications required.
Bacterial diseases in stone fruit trees and almond trees, especially bacterial spot caused by Xanthomonas arboricola pv. pruni (Xap), represent a severe problem for growers, affecting both quality and yield, with fruit production losses ranging from 20 to 75%. The existing control methods have limitations and rely on plant protection products with only moderate effectiveness, whose use is increasingly restricted. To solve that, SUMACROP integrates defensive elicitor peptides (Pep1 and Pep2) with the XapCAST predictive system to improve the precision of disease management. By identifying periods of increased infection risk, XapCAST helps determine the most effective timing for peptide application, enhancing treatment performance while reducing the number of interventions needed.
