This invention provides a new therapeutic method for repair of peripheral nerves after injury using olfactory mucosa-derived mesenchymal stem cells (OM-MSCs) and their secretome. Preliminary studies on animal models indicate enhancements in motor performance and sensory functions, suggesting that this method may effectively restore nerve function. This technology is adaptable for use in both human and veterinary medicine, addressing various types of peripheral nerve injuries. Furthermore, the integration with established biomaterial technologies helps to support and direct nerve regrowth and may facilitate regulatory compliance for clinical applications.
Background:
Traditional nerve repair techniques, such as autografts or conduits, often result in incomplete functional recovery and scarring at the injury site. Additionally, existing technologies do not offer high adaptability or patient-specific customization.
