The Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) 7th Edition focuses on five key themes: Renewable Energy, Offshore Wind, Greener Industries, Sustainable Agrifood, and Sustainable Materials.

Each theme reflects urgent industry priorities and presents opportunities for innovators to develop practical, scalable sustainability solutions in partnership with leading corporations.

We invite startups and SMEs from around the world to co-develop, test, and pilot groundbreaking solutions with the 25 corporate challenge statement owners.

Details of the Innovation Need

The Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) 7th Edition is now open for submissions.

More than 25 prominent corporationshave contributed challenge statements and are ready to work with innovative solution providers to co-develop, test and implement solutions that address real sustainability needs. These partners are looking for technologies and ideas they can bring into pilot settings with the intention to scale.

Why You Should Submit

  • Over S$3 million in funding support is available for successful solution providers, along with the opportunity to run pilots with our challenge statement owners.
  • You will also have access to mentorship and industry networks that can help sharpen your value proposition and unlock new collaborations.

Making Your Submission

  • We encourage you to begin your submission on our challenge platform: https://sustainability.innovation-challenge.sg.
  • You can create an account, start drafting your application, save it as you go and return to it anytime before the final submission deadline on Friday, 30 January 2026.

Early Submission

  • Early submissions will receive a round of feedback from the organising team and the challenge statement owners.
  • This will help strengthen your proposal and give you a clearer sense of how your solution aligns with the needs of potential partners.

  • Recently, our challenge statement owners presented more details about their problem statements during our virtual Info Sessions and took questions from participants. You can now review these presentations on our website.

How do I write a winning proposal?

In the solution proposal submission form:

  • Do not disclose confidential information that is not properly protected
  • Explain and focus on the benefits of applying and/ or developing your solution or technology rather than how you will get into it
  • Provide information about specific expected outcome, implementation or developing timeline and costs
  • Explain about your track record on projects you have successfully worked related to this technology field
  • Use pre-defined buttons to give specific details about your proposal “Stage of development”, “Commercial Information” and “Intellectual Property Status”

Who will evaluate my proposal?

The posting organization will directly evaluate your proposal. Please avoid sending spam as you can be blocked by posting members.

How do I proptect my intellectual property?

You are not asked to reveal any confidential information nor provide any solution that is not protected at this point. You just have to provide non-confidential information. After submitting your proposal, the posting company will evaluate it and directly connect with you. This is when if there is an interest you would request to sign an NDA with the company to keep the conversation ongoing.

Do I have to reveal confidential information?

Never reveal Confidential Information that it is not properly protected.

Do I need to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before submitting my proposal?

There is no need to sign an NDA. You are not asked to reveal any confidential information nor provide any solution that is not protected at this point. You just have to provide non-confidential information. After submitting your proposal the posting company will evaluate it and directly connect with you. This is when if there is an interest you would request to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with the company to keep the conversation ongoing.

How long will it take to get a response?

The posting company will directly contact you to open up discussions about your proposal and potential collaboration opportunities

What happen if I am not elected?

You will be notified and provided with feedback from the posting company. You can always transform your proposal into a Technology Offer to present it to other members at no cost
