The submission process for new proposals is closed. Proposals submitted before the deadline will follow the standard evaluation process.

Desired outcome

The request is to build a robotic machine that receives as an input a bunch of bags or cartons grouped randomly in position and orientation on a basement/conveyor, herein called buffer, and the requested output is a line of bags/cartons placed on a moving belt with a fixed orientation and position (e.g. 2x2, 1x3 etc.).

Details of the Innovation Need

The machine can handle different types of bags/cartons but not at the same time. For any recipe the bags/cartons are all the same with specific dimensions and a weight of approximately 100g.

The system must be capable to recognize the tri-dimensional orientations of the inputs through a vision system according to their 6-faced artworks.

The re-grouping in the output is made accordingly to a table of references, which defines a list of specification for each desired bag/carton. It is given as a hard constraint that the orientations of the bags are pre-defined in all three axes and the positions are given as desired on the above-mentioned table of references.

Requirements

  • The maximum speed of the system must be: 144 bags processed/min.
  • The full machine including buffer, robotic unscrambler and output belt must have a footprint lower than 7x3 meters.
