Details of the Technology Offer

Background:

Food by-products constitute a substantial loss of valuable resources, including water, energy, land, and labor utilized throughout the food production process. These by-products, accounting for about one-third of total food production, contain valuable, underutilized bioactive compounds with potent biological activities. However, food by-products are often disposed of, which in itself poses financial costs for companies.

Among food by-products, coffee silverskin and olive pomace are receiving significant attention due to their richness in bioactive compounds. Coffee and its by-products have demonstrated effectiveness in serving as moisturizers, hair growth stimulants, and anti-dandruff agents, while also exhibiting strong antioxidant properties. Similarly, olive pomace paste is rich in essential hair nutrients like vitamin E, hydroxytyrosol, tyrosyl, and others.

Benefits:

First-to-market product with these two ingredients; Synergistic effect: hair growth, anti-dandruff action, and nourishment for the hair; The invention contributes to a circular economy, addressing environmental needs, sustainability goals, health benefits and consumer acceptance, while using green methodologies and excipients.

Potential comercial use/applications:

Green, environmentally friendly hair care products (shampoo, serum, mask and conditioner).
