We are looking for an innovative redesign of the plasticizing screw used in the extrusion of HDPE and HMWHDPE blends.
The primary goals are:
- reduction of extrusion pressure,
- reduction of processing temperature,
- improved plasticizing efficiency,
- lower energy consumption.
It is crucial that the plasticity of the material and the mechanical quality of the regranulate are not compromised.
The project should deliver alternative screw geometry concepts, technical analysis (CFD simulations), and a virtual prototype of the most promising solution.
Technological need:
The recycling of HDPE and HMWHDPE blends presents challenges due to high melt viscosity and compatibility limitations. Current screw design results in high compression pressures and elevated processing temperatures, increasing energy usage and degradation risk.
Project goals:
Input available:
We will provide screw geometry, processing parameters, and material properties.

Evaluation criteria:
We commenced our niche activities by reconditioning steel and plastic drums, subsequently introducing other products and services to our offer, including IBCs reconditioning, rebottled IBCs production, stainless steel containers reconditioning, or recycled HDPE resin production. Owing to dynamic organic development and acquisitions, we have become a leading company in the business.
At the present day, the company operates six professional production lines for industrial packaging reconditioning and recycling. Owing to our competent staff and the necessary technical infrastructure, we can maintain an effective and environmentally-friendly production process.
Our offer is intended for companies that generate empty packaging and seek to process these products in the most environmentally-friendly way possible, as well as for companies packaging their products in IBCs and in drums.
Since our establishment, we have reconditioned over a million industrial containers. Numerous studies conducted so far in Europe, USA, and Japan indicate that reconditioning of industrial packaging instead of continuous new packaging production has considerable impact on greenhouse emission containment. Relying on such studies, we can state that by enabling re-use of industrial packaging, DCR spares us all 6 thousand tons of CO2 emissions a year. Owing to our customers, this reduction in emissions still grows.
DCR’s operations are consistent with the principles of sustainability and circular economy, the purpose of which is to establish a closed-circuit type of economy. By reconditioning industrial packaging, we provide an opportunity for it to be used multiple times. This results in reducing the amount of waste generated, and decreasing greenhouse emissions. We believe that there is a future in what we do.
