Seeking : Integrateable solution for electrical household appliances enabling gas venting, and at the same time water tightness

We need a solution that can be integrated into a plastic enclosure and provides the following characteristics:

• Permeability to gas (air) in both directions for pressure equalization between inside of enclosure and environment
• Water-tightness to prevent water from entering the enclosure
• The aforementioned properties must be sustained over a prolonged period (several years), even if the enclosure is regularly exposed to water and specific substances such as toothpaste, rinse, cleaning agents and others.
• Solutions might be but not limited to venting membranes, valves, etc.

In Scope Details:

Water tightness: IPX7, IPX8

Gas permeability (air):

• Gas permeability (air) must be at least 2.0 l/h at a differential pressure of 150 mbar
• The orifice at the enclosure shall be as small as possible but not exceeding 15 mm².
• The solution shall not get damaged with an instantaneous differential air pressure of 3 bar.

These required functionalities must be provided under the following conditions:

• The requirements must also be fulfilled even after a period of five to seven years of use.
• Temperature storage range between -20 °C and 80 °C
• The solution must be compliant with regulations for household electrical devices.
• The enclosure can be exposed to water and personal care products (e.g. toothpaste, rinse, shaving foam) and cleaning agents (detergents, isopropanol, ethanol, disinfection agents) on a daily basis.
