IRST IRCCSIRST IRCCSIRST IRCCSOperativo dal 2007 all’interno delle strutture dell'ex Ospedale Civile di Meldola, IRST Srl è soggetto del Servizio Sanitario della Regione Emilia-Romagna e della Rete Oncologica della Romagna. L’IRST, quale centro dall’alto potenziale tecnologico e scientifico, è in grado di dialogare con le più qualificate strutture nazionali e internazionali di cura e studio delle patologie neoplastiche, proponendosi quale soggetto ideale per condurre ricerca ad alto livello e vocato alla formazione di personale medico e infermieristico. Il progetto IRST parte da un’alleanza pubblico-privato tra enti non profit. La forma scelta per far nascere l'IRST è stata quella della Società a responsabilità limitata (S.r.l.), una società senza scopo di lucro che ha tutte le caratteristiche richieste ad una Impresa Sociale fra cui il divieto di distribuzione degli utili e l’obbligo di investimento degli stessi nello svolgimento delle attività istituzionali previste dalla missione. L'Istituto Scientifico Romagnolo per lo Studio e la Cura dei tumori nasce per dar corpo ad una convinzione: la lotta alle malattie tumorali può esser vinta. I costanti progressi ottenuti nella prevenzione dell'insorgenza dei tumori, l'efficacia delle cure, quantificabile nella crescita degli indici di sopravvivenza e le continue conquiste ottenute dalla ricerca, testimoniano che quella che fino a poco tempo fa era una speranza, oggi è una realtà. Una realtà che si consolida giorno dopo giorno grazie al lavoro di migliaia di medici, ricercatori e scienziati nel mondo. In un’area medica largamente sperimentale come quella oncologica, affinché le scoperte raggiunte ricadano il prima possibile in ambito assistenziale, cura e ricerca non possono procedere disgiunte ma devono interagire continuamente. Per questo, all'interno dell'Istituto Scientifico Romagnolo per lo Studio e la Cura dei tumori, si crede fermamente nella necessità di stringere sempre più il legame tra assistenza, attività sperimentali e ricerca.
