Position Description:

  • Develop new process technologies for PepsiCo global beverage & ingredient processing innovation

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop research program project plans, including project scope, design basis, success criteria, timelines, resources needs, critical assumptions, and potential issues for new technologies and/or participate on teams for same within the filling, gassing, mixing, processing/preserving and sanitation/cleaning areas of beverage production

  • Manage research projects workstreams and/or individual projects, participate on technical teams on broader scope projects across multiple internal functions (R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, etc) and external partners.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge and advanced problem-solving skills and an awareness of PepsiCo priorities to achieve stated results.

  • Design laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing plant testing; following good scientific protocol, controlling for extraneous variables and other experimental biases.

  • Collect data and analyze using statistical methods.

  • Interpret data and observations, and correlate with plant level processing conditions.

  • Write analysis reports, and make recommendations that balance/optimize product quality, operating costs and capital cost considerations.

  • Develop and prepare conceptual engineering designs, project definitions, design basis, cost estimates, success criteria, factory acceptance tests; aid in preparing commissioning/start-up plans and schedules.

  • Contribute to multi-functional teams within R&D.

  • Demonstrate thought leadership and influence within current function.

  • Stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies for possible applications.

  • Represent technical function on multi-functional business teams.

  • Willingness to take on additional tasks of various skill levels to enable the success of the overall team


 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

 

  • M.S. or Ph.D. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Food Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 2-4 years process research/design/development/commercialization

  • Ability to define, execute & manage projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.

  • Liquid process design knowledge a plus

  • Knowledge of design engineering, particularly in food science, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, sanitary piping practices and process and instrumentation diagrams

  • Experience in a consumer products research & development function a plus

  • Background in development and commercialization of new products and/or support of operations strongly desired

  • Experience with ready to serve beverages desirable

  • Experience in project management a plus

  • Travel required (US and International)—estimate 25%.
