Event description

12-13th October, 2011, Vienna, Austria. Maximising R&D productivity & minimising risk through efficient management of more-open & competitive collaborations & alliances.
"Open-innovation" is a concept that has been discussed a lot in recent times across many knowledge-intensive high-tech industries, including one as innovation-dependent as the global life sciences industry. The idea of pooling risk, costs and resources, whilst hopefully increasing R&D productivity at the same time through collaborative innovation is attractive in theory, although difficult in practice in an industry when IP protection is paramount.

Why Attend?
Understand what is meant by "open-innovation" in practice and how this can work in life sciences.
Hear real-life examples of successful implementation from pharmaceutical companies, academic-led consortia, non-profits and public-private partnerships.
Appreciate if the benefits outweigh the costs, as well as answers to the questions what? With who? When? Why? How? And how much?
Determine how best to share information, risks and costs with R&D partners, whilst protecting intellectual property and maximising the benefits of joint synergies.
