OctoCells develops CellSpace HA™, a proprietary 3D bioactive hyaluronic acid matrix that turns standard culture vessels into ready-to-use bioproduction microfactories , no new equipment, no protocol change, same incubator.
Unlike inert microcarriers (dextran, polystyrene) that require collagen or Matrigel coating, CellSpace HA is intrinsically bioactive: cells recognize and colonize it natively, in a true 3D volume rather than a flat 2D surface. The matrix supports a broad range of cell types, including non-adherent cells, and applications spanning monoclonal antibodies, extracellular vesicles, lentiviral vectors, recombinant proteins, and physiologically relevant 3D disease models.
Results independently validated with Rouen University Hospital, CNRS and INSERM: ≥12× monoclonal antibody yield vs. standard 2D culture, +54% extracellular vesicle production, −80% cost per unit produced (vessel + medium + labor), and active cultures maintained beyond 29 days versus a typical plateau at day 18 in 2D. The technology is protected by 3 patents filed plus 1 in the pipeline, and has been validated in partnership with Dassault Systèmes on OctoSim™, an AI-powered digital twin for bioproduction.
OctoCells is a French deeptech biotech based in Rouen, currently engaging with CDMOs, biopharma manufacturers, and academic/clinical partners to scale adoption of CellSpace HA across bioproduction and 3D modeling applications.
We are actively seeking industrial partners, co-development opportunities, and technology providers (e.g., animal-free growth factors, specialty proteins) to complement our platform and accelerate deployment across new modalities and markets.
