Professor at California State University, Monterey Bay
Biologist (PhD - Florida State University; Post-Doc - University of Connecticut; Prof. - California State University, Monterey Bay) with a broad background and diverse skill set in Genomics, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Molecular Biology, Public Health Genomics, Evolution and Ecology. Currently, I work primarily as a Professor with research interests in how genetic variation drives organismal outcomes. Ongoing projects explore the microbial functional and ecological genomics of pesticide bioremediation, the evolution of sex-change and placental development in fishes, the use of molecular methods to describe fish feeding ecology, and the relationship between soil microbial communities and agricultural crop outcomes. I am also a committed, experienced, and skilled educator with special expertise in teaching genomics and bioinformatics among many other topics and a strong interest in developing programs that emphasize democratizing access to educational opportunities in the sciences. Additionally, I have expertise as a Genomics and Bioinformatics consultant for Public Health organizations conducting genomic investigations.
