Robot Applications in Agriculture 4.0: Cultivation, Management, and Harvesting – Improving Production Efficiency and Reducing Costs

Editor's Note: To maximize agricultural production efficiency, it is necessary to accelerate the introduction of agricultural robot technology in the agricultural sector. This paper, authored by Bulgarian scholars Eng. Marin Midilev et al., introduces the application of robot technology in agriculture, describes application scenarios and practices, and analyzes the future prospects and challenges of agricultural robots in conjunction with local industry experience.
Introduction: According to the latest Global Report, it is time for the international community to prepare for new challenges. These challenges are related to population growth, limited natural resources, climate change reducing agricultural productivity, inefficiency leading to food waste, poverty, and hunger. All these problems are closely related to the limitations of using traditional planting, weeding, harvesting, and transportation methods in food production. Living in an era of high technology and artificial intelligence, it is a shared responsibility to solve the challenges of fruit and vegetable production using cross-industry approaches.
