Since 1975, the organization has pioneered field-based mobile dehydration and value-addition technologies designed to operate directly at farm and market levels.
The first community-based mobile drying Technology Transfer Agreement was purchased by the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) in 1975, marking a milestone in decentralized food preservation innovation. Working in collaboration with PCSIR scientists, farmers, industry stakeholders, and women operators, the organization established practical, commercially viable systems that convert crop losses into profit at the source.
Its mobile dehydration plants integrate slicing, peeling, topping, tailing, and controlled moisture drying to reduce crop moisture, weight, and volume by up to 90% at loss sites, stabilizing perishable produce and extending shelf life. Final processing reduces moisture to approximately 10%, ensuring food safety and long-term storage while minimizing emissions and transport dependency.
Over the decades, the organization has supported the development or adaptation of thousands of commercial drying and recycling technologies, reshaping high-cost international processing systems into affordable, locally manufacturable models at nearly one-tenth of conventional costs.
The initiative has trained women farmers as professional drying experts and established seasonal value-addition centers to strengthen rural livelihoods.
