Seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. |
| |
PepsiCo is committed to reducing GHG emissions from seed to shelf. We are looking to engage with partners who can assist us in our goal of reducing GHG 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As new technologies emerge, efficiencies will be gained and PepsiCo aims to remain at the forefront of best practices in the food and beverage industry. PepsiCo is seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. Solutions may be in one or more of the following areas: • Agriculture – sustainable farming and the reduction of GHG intensive fertilizers • Manufacturing – adopting energy efficient manufacturing processes; novel methods for utilizing waste; use of renewable thermal energy at scale • Packaging – alternative packaging materials and formats that reduce GHGs • Distribution – technologies to assist in the efficiency of our company-owned and third party fleet |
Seeking Recyclable Closure for Paper Beverage Bottles |
| |
We are seeking technologies for a re-closable fiber-based closure for a paper beverage bottle that can be recycled in the paper stream. |
Seeking natural colors for foods and beverages |
| |
PepsiCo is evaluating different natural color ingredients and technologies to replace Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Red #40, and Blue #1 for multiple food and beverage brands in order to address consumer demand. Specific challenges are in the Red #40 (food) and Blue #1 (food & beverage) replacers. |
Wind flow Interface concentrator for VAWT |
| |
The researchers of the University have developed a wind flow concentrator incorporated into a Vertical Axe Wind (VAWT), which allows a significant increase in wind speed before being injected to the turbine. The system allows the optimization of the currents with independence of its direction and it is applicable to any type of VAWT. It is suitable for any type of building. |
Distributed interference cancelation based on outdated channel gain information |
| |
New method aimed to enhance the overall throughput of communication systems by utilizing delayed channel gain information for distributed interference compression and removal. The technology targets a dynamic environment in which the transmitters, the receivers or even the scattering environment are not static and is useful for a communication scenario with several distributed transmitters and receivers sharing a common medium, in which interference removal is crucial to enhance system throughput and to enable simultaneous transmission of information from several transmitters to several receivers, using the same resources. |
Fast and non-sequential measurement method for the light response of chlorophyll a fluorescence |
| |
New method for the measurement of the in vivo emission of chlorophyll a fluorescence by photosynthetic organisms, through the generation of light-response curves with independent observations, measured in a non-sequential and much faster way than the existing methods. The method combines the (i) projection in the sample of spatially separated light beams of different intensity or quality, using a digitally-controlled projector, with (ii) the measurement of the emitted fluorescence as a response to each light beam using an image fluorometer. |
