Those features are as follows: - multi-functionality, - ability to generate an extra driving force, - significant increase of swimming speed, - reduction of robot unwanted hull movements during swimming with side fins enabling proper work of onboard equipment and sensors etc. (for solutions in robots imitating fish); - increasing the dynamic of swimming depth changes; - wide range of change of direction of thrust force (also reverse thrust). - unlimited range of change of thrust around axis of rotation of side fins, - ability to dynamically stabilize heel movement of the hull - no change in the direction of rotation of the main engine transferred into oscillatory motion of lateral fins, - less energy consumption, - frequency of oscillation at a level of several Hz
University of Vigo posted this:New wheel slip reset controller for brake systemsThe main motivation for using reset control is the overcoming of fundamental limitations or trade-offs of conventional controllers: with the conventional controllers if we want a fast braking response, the system is fragile and sensitive to uncertainties; and if we want a robust system, this requires slower braking actions. Reset control is a novel technique that achieves more robust and fester braking responses in a way that no other conventional controller is able to produce.

Based on artificial vision, this system measures the remaining thickness of the graphite layers of the collector strips. Automatic processing of collected data generates a 3D model of the strips, analyzing it to detect cracks and wear, which is crucial for pantograph maintenance.
Universidad de Alicante posted this:Method for recycling of vessels and other structures composed of fiberglass and resinResearchers at the University of Alicante have developed a method to recycle composite fiberglass structures on a polymer matrix (resin). The process removes the polymer matrix, recovering glass fiber which can be reused. The process is not aggressive with fiberglass. It takes place at room temperature and is able to recover all the fiberglass used. The method is industrially scalable and can be automated. Fiberglass composites and resin are widely used in the construction of boat hulls, tanks, wind turbine blades and many other applications. This method is a very important innovation for the sector and there was no effective method that allowed recovering and reusing these materials.

The group has developed a method and a sensor system for the detection and counting of the train’s axles. This sensor may be used to verify the integrity and speed of the railway convoys. This method and sensor system is characterized by its high auscultation speed. With this solution the measurements are made without physical contact with any element of the train, it has total immunity to electromagnetic interference (absence of electronics in the pathway) and to the sensor vibration. The group seeks railway related companies to achieve licensing agreements with technical collaborations and commercial agreements.

The virtual beacons allow monitoring temporary speed restrictions even in the absence of physical ASFA beacons. The invention consists of one or two cameras one settled up on the right lateral back and/or another one on the previous part. The system provides automatically an audible or visual alarm to inform the driver that some vehicles are approaching the exit lane. The group seeks automotive companies to achieve license, commercial or collaborative agreements with technical assistance.

In this way, the vehicle reaches a better adaptation to the space and organization of the warehouse. In other words, the vehicle can be adapted to the place and it is not necessary to adapt the place to the vehicle. The main innovative aspects are: • The vehicles have a high level of autonomy, due to the dynamic planning of paths. • Avoid collisions because the system can modify the path in real time. • The definition of new paths without modification of the environment avoids costly investments.
