University of Vigo posted this:A novel mild and efficient method to prepare ε-Caprolactam precursor of Nylon 6ε-Caprolactam, the main precursor of the synthetic fibber Nylon 6, is prepared from cyclohexanone oxime by treatment with a new salt as promoter. This procedure requires mild reaction conditions and affords excellent levels of conversion and selectivity to obtain pure ε-caprolactam. No reaction by-products are formed. The new promoter salt is cheap, no corrosive, and easy to prepare. All these characteristics makes the procedure suitable for undustrial purposes.

It comprises several pieces, that when pressed an audio is played and activate the corresponding led. This model can be applied in primary and secondary education. Researchers are looking for education-oriented technology development companies as well as textbook and school material publishers, in order to reach licensing, commercial or collaboration agreements.

Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:DriveSafe: App that monitors and scores your driving, generating alerts when it is not safe. The RobeSafe group of the Department of Electronics of the University of Alcalá has developed the application DriveSafe that monitors and evaluates the driving profiles of the drivers generating alerts in real time when they are considered to be unsafe. Placing the mobile device on the vehicle's windshield, the application uses the smartphone's sensors (accelerometers, GPS, rear camera) to get a complete assessment of the driving and create a driver profile that can be checked either on real time during the trip, or reviewed in detail once the route is over. The system requires only a slight calibration. The application has a dual functionality. On the one hand, it provides real-time Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) services, improving the safety of drivers in all types of vehicles (mainly low-end), which otherwise would only be available in premium vehicles high-end. On the other hand, it generates a history of the driver behavior that may be useful to the driver himself or to insurance, logistics or other companies in order to mitigate potential risks and reduce operational costs. The group is looking for companies from the Transport, Insurance or Apps sector to sign technical collaboration agreements, commercial agreements with technical assistance and license agreements.

Technology Transfer Office posted this:Brno Dynamic Solidification Models®Continuous casting process of steel cannot be in these days controlled without the use of mathematical models, computer simulations and advanced control and optimization methods. The proposed dynamic solidification model allows for real-time simulations of heat transfer and solidification of continuously cast steel slabs and billets. The model can also be coupled with optimization modules for the effective and appropriate control and regulation of casting.
Fundació URV posted this:Environmentally friendly processing of thermosets by two-stage sequential aza-Michael addition and free-radical polymerization of amine-acrylate mixturesEnvironmentally friendly preparation of thermosets for applications on thermosensitive substrates. A two-step curing process, which consists in an Aza-Michael addition at room temperature, followed by UV radical polymerization of acrylates or methacrylates amine formulations without the need of adding solvents. The presence of amines in the structure suppress the radical inhibition by oxygen, which is a typical drawback in radical polymerizations. The invention allows leading the curing in two separate stages with a stable intermediate material, being the process controlled by the amount of amine in the formulation.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Compact, economical and reusable new element to facilitate the horizontal reinforcement of reinforced concrete elementsThe research group “Materials and Construction Systems for Buildings”, from the Building and Urbanism Department at the University of Alicante, has developed a new system that significantly facilitates the placement of the horizontal bars in constructive elements of reinforced concrete due to its reduced size and weight. The invention is characterized by being reusable, easy to place in any type of work and it can be handled by a single operator. Moreover, it is a simple, inexpensive system to manufacture and its use implies a considerable reduction in time and execution costs on site. The research group is looking for companies interested in commercial exploitation.

UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Novel and simple procedure for dispersing graphene derivatives in chemically curable resins. The Laboratory of Adhesion and Adhesives of the University of Alicante and the company Dental Global Training, have developed a new procedure to incorporate efficiently graphene derivatives (nanofibers, nanosheets, nanoparticles) in chemically cured resins by using an in situ polymerization technique. The method is very simple and fast, it provides an excellent dispersion of the graphene derivatives in both the solid components of the resin and in the cured polymer matrix, and is entirely friendly with the environment. The novel method does not require the use of organic solvents nor water, ultrasounds, and high pressure/temperature. The resulting resin composites show excellent mechanical properties, good wear resistance, easy manipulation and increase the insolubility in oral fluids, and therefor they have special interest in applications in odontology, traumatology and non-medical applications too (automobile, construction, civil engineering, aeronautics, space engineering, electronics and optics). It is looking for companies interested in acquiring this technology for its commercial exploitation.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Method for recycling of vessels and other structures composed of fiberglass and resinResearchers at the University of Alicante have developed a method to recycle composite fiberglass structures on a polymer matrix (resin). The process removes the polymer matrix, recovering glass fiber which can be reused. The process is not aggressive with fiberglass. It takes place at room temperature and is able to recover all the fiberglass used. The method is industrially scalable and can be automated. Fiberglass composites and resin are widely used in the construction of boat hulls, tanks, wind turbine blades and many other applications. This method is a very important innovation for the sector and there was no effective method that allowed recovering and reusing these materials.
UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE posted this:Novel self-expanding polyurethane foams intended for inert filling of pleural and other human cavities. The Adhesion and Adhesives Laboratory of the University of Alicante has developed a new polymeric foaming material for in-situ filling and sealing of internal irregular different shaped human cavities, intended for patients suffering chronic pleural cavities and in-field injuries caused by bullets or accidental event leaving open blood vessels. The new foam is composed of two separate liquid components that can be mixed in a two-body syringe in such a way that the foaming time can be modulated for allowing the foam formation at the end of the syringe needle. The new polymeric foam can self-expanded and self-modelated for avoiding complications in open internal cavities caused by infections, blooding, fistulae, dyspnea or sepsis. The new foam is easily applicable, safe for biological tissues, and its use avoid the use of the current aggressive treatments in pleural cavities. It is looking for companies interested in acquiring this technology for its commercial exploitation.
