uacoopera posted this:System for the collection , storage and exhaled alveolar air conditioning for clinical analysisA group of researchers from Portuguese university developed a device that allows the collection and storage of the exhaled alveolar air by humans. The invention aims simultaneously to overcome some of the technical difficulties in the current state of the art, such as i) little or no response in the selective collection of alveolar air fraction ii) the inability to couple systems that allow concentration/extraction of analytes of interest iii) the inexistence of systems to the storage of the collected biofluid under controlled conditions and iv) the inability to collect exhaled air in liquid or vapor state. The university is looking for companies interested in the industrial production of the equipment and its commercialization.
DIT Hothouse posted this:Strata Vision: Automated Scanning and Fault Detection for PPEDIT Hothouse is seeking a suitable commercial partner to take this technology to market. The establishment of a start-up software business or a licensing agreement with a clean room services company are two possible routes to market. Industry partners will have the added benefit of a highly experienced DIT project team to help deliver the final product. StrataVision has featured strongly in national (Enterprise Ireland) and international (Hong Kong PU) enterprise awards.
Universidad de Alicante posted this:Noble metal-free ceria-based diesel soot combustion catalyst, suitable for gas purification in Diesel engine exhaustsThe developed catalyst does not use Pt, which leads to a cheaper product. The resulting catalyst shows equal or even better performance as Pt catalysts. Following the patented procedure of synthesis, the catalyst produced has a lower particle size. This leads to higher surface per particle and therefore, a better ratio yield when interacting in oxidation reactions, leading to a higher oxygen production rate.
Universidad de Cádiz posted this:Device for easy, quick and nondestructive fouling's evaluation in water treatment systems with membranes in spiral configuration. This device allows a faster diagnosis, more efficient and more economic than the alternative proceeding. Its design allows obtaining reliable and accurate information on the degree of fouling and biofouling that membranes of the unit are developing without sacrificing any of them. Its quick placement and removal allows distribute these devices in the facility to improve the management of the facility. It is possible even operate with difference type of membrane for doing comparative studies of resistance to fouling with a view to introducing future changes of the type of membrane in the desalinization plant
Universitat de València posted this:Test Kit for anionic surfactant in waterThe most remarkable advantages provided by this technology are: o Simplicity and versatility of the kit, which allows carrying out a high throughput screening or in situ analysis with very short analysis times. o Low analysis cost, since dyes, organic solvents that generate residues and instrumental equipment are not used. o High sensitivity of the method, that detect anionic surfactant concentration lower than the maximum residue limit established in most of the environmental legislation.
Universitat de València posted this:Micromechanical dry exfoliation deviceThe main advantages provided by the invention are: Versatility: the method is applicable to any layered material and on any type of substrate. Simplicity: the method consists in a dry exfoliation without adhesive materials. Quality and reproducibility: the exfoliation is clean (no trace of adhesive), reproducible and it does not produce defects in the substrate. Efficiency: it is possible to deposit a high density of atomically thin layers of the material. Control: it is possible to control the pressure exerted, allowing for a fine-tuning of the deposition conditions depending on the nature of the layered material manipulated.
Universitat de València posted this:Passive sensor for in situ detection of amines in atmospheres Simplicity and ease of use: it is a passive colorimetric sensor that does not require any kind of pretreatment or power supply or external instrument. Low cost: simple fabrication process without high costs Low detection limits: suitable for use in real atmospheres, of the order of 3 mg/m3. Quantitative detection: direct quantitative detection can be carried out by diffuse reflectance of the sensors. Stability: against a wide range of temperatures and to humidity and solar radiation. Reversion resistance.
Universitat de València posted this:Sample collection devices of atmospheric pollutants with high performanceThe main advantages provided by the invention are: Simplicity and reproducibility in the synthesis of the new compound, due to one step synthesis process with simultaneous addition of all reagents. It isn’t necessary the removal of CDs, and it hasn’t intermediate compounds between silica and CDs. It allows the access to VOCs without any post-treatment. Adaptability of the compound to the requirements of each sample collection devices, adjusting the grain size by milling and using appropriate sieves. Procedure cleaner, safer and more economic, since it reduces the generation of toxic waste and the risk of contamination of workers. Reduce analysis time since desorption of pollutants retained in the sample collection devices can be thermal. Retention of pollutants is more independent of environmental conditions than commercial devices.
Universitat de València posted this:New method for the production of metallic oxides with spinel structureThis procedure is faster, with lower energy consumption and generates purer spinels than known methods for spinel production. With this invention, it’s possible to provide new methods for obtaining spinels or other mixed oxides with a higher processability and versatility than those existing to date, allowing also for obtaining new spinels and removing the need for extremely costly phases in time or energy, including milling or heating at temperatures up to 1200ºC.
