The type of partner sought is mainly for the regulatory codevelopment and the commercialization of our solution under a technology license agreement. The technology developed relates to a novel genetically engineered variety of maize accumulating extraordinary levels of carotenoids (β-carotene, lycopene, zeaxanthin and lutein). Poultry raised on this corn were healthy and exhibited substantially higher levels of resistance to coccidiosis, less foot pad dermatitis, reduced number of ulcers and less excretion of pathogen oocysts in feces. Carotenoids accumulate in several tissues (skin, dermis, muscles and fat), conferring high nutritional value and greater consumer acceptance.

The procedure allows to detect adulterations with gardenia in an unambiguous and sensitive way. A problem not solved at present by any other existing methods. The group is looking for companies in the agro-food sector to sign technical cooperation agreements, commercial agreements with technical assistance or patent licensing agreements.

The in vitro culture is carried out at facilities of Alcalá University, being the INIA the institution in charge of the plant genotyping for their delivery once they have been molecularly characterized. Other plants obtained by other means can be also genotyped as well. Both institutions seek to reach commercial agreements with forestry, reforestation, horticultural companies, plant nurseries, companies specialized on cultivation of woody species to obtain biomass, agrarian transformation companies, ornamental companies and municipalities or local administrations interested in the maintenance of native species. Also, this service would be of special interest for pharmaceutical companies in obtaining bioproducts in general (i.e. willow-Acetyl Salicylic Acid, yew-Taxol, Maritime Pine-Pycnogenol and other active ingredients), and chemical companies interested in obtaining resins and other derivatives.
Cracow University of Technology posted this:The synthesis of silver nanoparticles suspension and nanosilver suspension in reductive system with urea for agrochemical and sanitary applications. The main advantage of proposed technology is the presence of urea in the system used commonly as a fertilizer promoting the growth of plants and both antifungal and antibacterial activity against pathogens. It also fits into the current trend towards the use of proecological technologies in industry. The resulting nanoparticles can be used in many industries, but the biggest potential lies in the agrochemical industry.

In addition, over the last few years, many new discoveries come up about selenium potentialities in the animal and human diet, such as its power anticarcinogen. Considering the important nutritional rule of this component and the need of a production models more and more environmentally-friendly, the present invention describes a production process of selenium enriched yeasts based on agro-industrial residues, such as sugarcane bagasse and rice bran, which serve as carbon and nitrogen sources. Purposes: This innovative biotechnological production process uses agro-industrial residues as substrate, resulting in a biomass of yeast that contains high selenium levels. Animals, as know, obtain selenium mainly through the aliments; then, this biomass can be used as a component in the animal nutrition to improve its development, fertility, eggs quality, milk and meat. Furthermore, it can act as component in the prevention of many diseases, for example, cancer. Target Market: Agro industrial, Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Industries.

The device acts as an electrical generator and is driven by environmentally-available mechanical energy such as ambient vibrations. Due to its flexibility and small size, it is of easy integration as power generator permitting the provision of full power autonomy to any wireless sensor node during its lifecycle into a network infrastructure following the philosophy “install and forget”. Industrial partners are being sought to exploit the existing know-how through a patent license agreement.

The offer includes also peptide and protein bacteriocins produced by S. pseudintermedius Sp222. These bacteriocins exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities: - bacteriocin BacSp222 is able to kill a variety of Gram+ bacteria strains, including the methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strain. It is also cytotoxic towards selected eukaryotic cells and is resistant to action of proteolytic enzymes (either eukaryotic or prokaryotic) as well as to high temperature. The biological activity of BacSp222 is sustained even after limited fragmentation of its molecule by chemical reagents; - lysostaphin Sp222 has an ability to effectively lyse (and, in consequence, to kill) the cells of Gram+ bacteria.
