Description of the technology

The Invention:

A new process for the conversion of rubber into small particles that swiftly adsorb 6-8 times its weight of oil or water.
Consequently the granules can be used as artificial soil with unique water preservation properties.
A second application is for cleaning water contaminated with oil. The granules rapidly selectively adsorb the oil.
The loaded particles can be squeezed to recover the oil and recycle the granules.

We propose a new economical and effective technology based on processed used tires for in situ soil remediation and for efficient oil spills treatment with complete oil recovery.Consequently this technology can be used as artificial soil with unique water preservation properties. These applications are based on granules produced from recycled rubbery tiers as a raw material.

Oil Spill Treatment

The capacity of the treated rubber granules for adsorption of hydrocarbons exceeds 5 kg oil per 1 kg of rubbery granules, after one hour. The recovery process is fast and simple, after several minutes more than 90% of oil recovery.

Remediation of Contaminated Soil

The capacity of the treated rubber granules for adsorption of hydrocarbons exceeds 8 kg oil per 1 kg of rubbery granules, after one hour.
