Comparatively with the typical window shading solutions, the present innovation can store energy in different working positions, without blocking out the direct radiation or direct sunlight into the interior of the building spaces. The developed system uses phase change materials (PCMs), not only in the window protection but also for the complete shutter solution, which allows its optimization and uniqueness for solar gains. The system developed is adaptable to any type of weather conditions.

The present innovation constitutes an advanced contribution for building energy efficiency by an window shutter incorporation into a window glazing solution using phase change materials. This system can store and release energy, according to the imposed weather conditions and can work efficiently for different weather seasons.

The present innovation constitutes an advanced contribution for building energy efficiency besides increasing the thermal comfort for the users of the building. It allows optimization of energy losses ( and gains) and minimizing the energetic expenditures associated with active acclimatization systems ( eg. AVAC). These can have lower power and work less time.
